31/7/2006 22:09 | No apology needed from you Typo - error theirs not yours. Thanks for the explanation which I will paste onto the the promo/relegation thread shortly. | m.t.glass
31/7/2006 11:30 | I thought DTY missed out on promotion in the latest (June) review, which took effect after close on Friday 16 June. Am I mistaken? Or has it got into the FTSE-250 following someone's unscheduled exit since then? | m.t.glass
30/7/2006 23:01 | Typo - where do you get yr info re FTSE250 entries? thanks | melody9999
28/7/2006 20:37 | Dignity enters the FTSE250 on Wednesday 2 August. It will be interesting to see if it is able to retain its entry following the capital return. | typo56
21/7/2006 09:12 | ..Funerals group Dignity shares have further to go, especially if the company manages to conclude a series of partnership agreements with local authorities. Under these deals it might take over the operation and in some cases build new crematoria for the authorities. Valued at 16 times 2007 forecast earnings, they are still worth buying, says the Independent... | m.t.glass
12/7/2006 13:24 | lol As the share price went to 5.14 last time i did some sums on here - lets try it again. based on the £1 return and the 7 for 9 issue , i need to have an share price of 5.33 after the consolidation now to have the same monies i could get for selling now. i know it doesn't work this way , but what the heck !!!! | india93
11/7/2006 16:53 | They could be up if incinerated | fatfin
11/7/2006 10:56 | Fatfin people are more than down - they are 6 foot under | india93
10/7/2006 23:56 | MTG. Both are areas that most do not like to admit they are investing in as they are there for people when they are down. Similar to DEBT as well which is another good company along the same lines. Good enough? | fatfin
10/7/2006 22:14 | "..they are in a similar market, in my view, to ABM the pawnbrokers..." OK Fatfin, I give up. Tell us the market connection between funeral services and pawnbroking. (It had better be good..) | m.t.glass
10/7/2006 21:28 | good for me i got 8,000 of these | mryesyes
10/7/2006 19:27 | ddav - many thanks. I somehow always assumed that these were on AIM as they are in a similar market, in my view, to ABM the pawnbrokers. I will now have to try and sell them to myself b4 the due date of the 1st August. | fatfin
10/7/2006 16:43 | Fatfin -- Hold these in an Isa -- AND YOU WON'T PAY ANY TAX AT ALL!!!! | ddav
07/7/2006 09:20 | What needs to be remembered is that whether it was a sell or a buy , somebody on the other end has bought or sold it. Always two sides to every story, esp as the share price has hardly moved. | india93
07/7/2006 08:14 | Melody - yes all very confusing and not sure I can educate you! What you say might be right though I would have thought it would only be going up as it is if the mm's knew there were some large buy orders coming? VN has a point too but don't think the spread was that tight to actually mistake 3 out of 3 buys as sells. Still possible though I suppose. In any case the stock just seems to carry on going up so there's no worries I guess. Can't see me getting back in till after early August when the new shares come back on the market when there might be a buying opportunity as Fatfin makes a good point and this £80M loan might just be better for the bosses than the company as a whole... | lovelyjubbly
06/7/2006 19:33 | I would think that this is a return of capital rather than income thus you will not pay any income tax unless your other gains, plus this, are in excess of £8,800. The co. should not have to pay any corporation tax either as it is a capital distribution. | fatfin
06/7/2006 14:24 | VN - take your point and accept I made an assumption there. Note 2 368K trades this afternoon at same price 491p. Guess we will never know what is really going on. | melody9999
06/7/2006 14:07 | Jsu because they are shown as sells doesnt mean they are! and in all probability they were buys - its the software which interprets that is probably at fault! It seems to have settled the buy or not buy debate! | verynervy
06/7/2006 13:47 | And me. DAVPAT | davpat
06/7/2006 13:41 | LJ - I never understand this - 3 1M sells this morning and the share price rises! Does this mean that a stock overhang has now been cleared and the depressing effect this has on the share price is now released? Someone pls educate me!! | melody9999
06/7/2006 11:50 | mmm - seems to be lots of red selling today but still goin up - that's because I sold!! It does look like a breakout especially if it can get through 500p... | lovelyjubbly
06/7/2006 11:47 | 3,000,000 trade ?? | melody9999
05/7/2006 15:04 | Thanks for those possible scenarios. From the existing longterm holder's point of view (a la post 486), sitting out whatever happens next month is probably favourite. From where I am, as a non-holder weighing up whether a worthwhile trading opportunity exists, I am disinclined to dabble as I remain unsure of how analysts and brokers will judge this situation. So I shall probably give it a miss. Good luck to anyone who fathoms how to make a profit from the deal. | m.t.glass |
