Too many chain stores selling the same tiresome stuff. HoF isn't saved, it's just rebased for a continuing decline, same with DEB's. DEB's doesn't have real assets it's just an estate of rented stores - assets that belong to others - and said stores are filled with stuff that it continually discounts.

This is a space rental strategy with any takeover waiting until a failure point which has the real estate owners over a barrel rental wise, and any new entrant picking up parts of an estate at the lowest rental point possible. imo

The CEO and IR have said many times that none of Debenhams stores is making a loss. HoF's stores are hence why they are closing some. Simple.

Great day in London yesterday ,Debenhams stores busy as well.

The new plan is working and the stores have great choice and quality goods for sale.

Debenhams will survive where others might not regardless of negative posters .

A store full of great quality items in Debenhams stores for sale every where .

I am looking to buy more shares shortly to add to my briefcase .

sp to be 50 pence before the 2018 year ends.

Forget the negative writings just stay positive +.

I don't what Q said as he's filtered but if it's the usual nonsense it's best ignored.

The longer it trades sideways the more chance it has of crossing one MA or another but I agree, it's just broken.

...and Debs can't because it can't get out of its leases. It's properly on the rocks, isn't it? What do you think will happen Debs - CVA? The chart is still suggesting a sudden collapse - 5p?

Good news for consumer focused stocks was previous day's data from Barclaycard that consumer spending showed growth in April of 5.1% on last year, the strongest performance for 13 months.

Tatty-carpeted stationery and snacks retailer WH Smith impressed with stronger sales growth in the third quarter of its trading year, where like-for-like sales rose 1% compared to last year, reversing the 1% decline in the previous six months.

Hi justice, I don't think I'd be buying for the divi albeit half a p (3%) if anything the divi is holding the Sp back, lots of nice buys going through the last week or so, but its being averaged down so the buyers/stake builder can get in around 21.40, expecting this to be 25+ once MA shows his hand!!

The Royal Wedding was bad for retail. I agree though warm weather is usually good for retail. Not sure about department stores though.

The rising petrol price will increase distribution costs to stores. It will also hit internet sales where companies like TNT, DHL and Hermes, have to increase their petrol surcharges.

Small matter for high margin businesses like ASOS & Boo but disastrous for tight margin, brand focused businesses like Debs.

Debenhams on the up.
Down in London today on business.

The tide has turned , no need to hold the water back , the tide has turned on its own accord ,its one way traffic this week upwards and I think the share price will be 50 pence for the 2018 year end .

heres what was in post number 5518, and I did not write it .

"Debenhams brands are overpriced and they will sell limited stock at full price so they have regular sales to try and convince shoppers that they are getting a bargain.
However when I looked at some shoes at Debenhams a week or two ago, the quality was poor. Hollow heels in shoes was what I found. The full price bad value and the reduced price poor value.
As for the clothes lines drab and overpriced.
Now the same person that wrote the above in "" now says the range of items "The range isn't terrible"
Debenhams format regular sales in good weather is a sign of desperation".

Forget the negative writings and posters that preach doom and gloom continually".
just stay positive +.
