Why we no longer love Department stores says the BBC a few hours ago, as they mention Debenhams dated brands that the store stocks.

" Out of fashion"

Many of today's ailing department stores focus on fashion - but they may not have the right merchandise, says Stephen Springham, head of retail insights at Knight Frank.
"It's a part of the problem at Debenhams which hasn't kept up with the times," he says.

"The range isn't terrible but it's a very competitive market and being not terrible is not good enough."

"Leader trying it on a bit"On the contrary, I don't want to see big household names disappear. I am pro and a long term bull in companies such as Debenhams & M&S.and many more. I'm hoping the demise of HoF May benefit Debenhams but it's still a sobering thought that a big name in retail can be brought down.

Very sad news just announced... House of Fraser to vanish from the high street as Chinese scramble to save firm founded 169 years ago. Flagship stores in Oxford Street and Glasgow where company was founded could disappear.

Last week not good for John Lewis as shown in last weeks figures fashion falling 4.5%

Shorters doomed to failure.

Shoppers hit the high street in their droves last month, helping retail sales to bounce back and grow at the sharpest rate in four years. Figures from the British Retail Consortium and KPMG showed retail sales up by 4.1 per cent in May compared with a year earlier. This was the highest rate of growth since January 2014. - The Times

AO World reported increased losses this morning.

AO World, the internet retailer of fridges, freezers and washing machines, racked up bigger losses last year.

Losses on operations were £16.2m last year, compared to £12m in the previous loss.
That was despite a 13.6% rise in sales to £796.8m.

The company said profit margins were under pressure due to a "challenging trading environment".

Debenhams on the up.

The tide has turned , no need to hold the water back , the tide has turned on its own accord ,its one way traffic this week upwards and I think the share price will be 50 pence for the 2018 year end .

Good to see the negative typing individuals are diminishing their postings on here, Debenhams are doing ok and a come back is underway. the share price I think will be 50 pence before 2018 ends .

Forget the negative writings and posters that preach doom and gloom continually.

Plenty of share buys of Debenhams today in blue , not many sells in Red.

YOU CANNOT TOUCH AND FEEL BEFORE YOU BUY FROM ANY RETAILER ON LINE YOU BUY ON LINE SALES AND YOU MIGHT GET FAULTY CREASED MARKED , WRONG SIZE ITEMS ON LINE , WAITING IN FOR HOURS DAYS AND HAVING TO SEND NOT WANTED ITEMS BACK , ALL TIME CONSUMING AND STRESS LEVELS RISING THROUGH THE ROOF , NOT WORTH IT , CANT BEAT BUYING FROM THE HIGH STREET , LIKE DEBENHAMS ETC.

If DEB spikes up like MTC you'll be wiped out. Remember losses are UNLIMITED for Shorts. Think of your mortgage.
