Debenhams brands are overpriced and they will sell limited stock at full price so they have regular sales to try and convince shoppers that they are getting a bargain.

However when I looked at some shoes at Debenhams a week or two ago, the quality was poor. Hollow heels in shoes was what I found. The full price bad value and the reduced price poor value.

As for the clothes lines drab and overpriced.

Debenhams format regular sales in good weather is a sign of desperation.

Beales have discounting at the moment but they are another bricks and mortar close to hitting the wall.

Possibly but looking through what's there, whilst you could agree with own buy, the brands have not been marked up in any special buy event.

Also Next & M&S are not giving 30% off in the best weather we have seen in, how long?

The thing is why would they be giving 30% off swimwear and fashion sandals now when it's the perfect time to sell them at full price?

Standard marketing, surely? The "normal" prices aren't even hoped to be achieved but are there just to comply with the law on sale prices. Not unique to Debenhams by any means.

Marks up 5% Debenhams down 3% one must assume this is because Debenhams is stuck with too many bricks and mortar stores.

I have a nice holding with them that has made me a large amount of money .

In corporate news, Marks & Spencer was the standout gainer as its proposed revamp of the business trumped a better-than-expected 5.4% fall in annual profits as margins at the retailer's food business were squeezed by the rising cost of ingredients. After including a huge £514m of exceptional costs, mostly related to a £321m provision for the cost of the accelerated store closure programme announced earlier in the week, reported pre-tax profits slumped by 62% to £66m.

Genuine investor here in many retail stocks including Debenhams which I have recently added, and been an investor in M&S for a number of years. It's been about the income for me.
Really... there are some on here who deliberately try to spread 'fake news' we all know the high street is struggling but it's not dead just changing and investors need to have patience and ride the low points.
I suspect that some posters on here have short positions in Debenhams and M&S and are clearly rattled by the not so bad news released by M&S this morning.
Those who short stock and try to manipulate their views on genuine investors, well you are worse than capitalist vultures, you are a boil on the body of capitalism that needs to be eradicated.
