29/5/2018 11:22 | I don't think the UK market is overvalued - not on a p/e compared to the US for example. Mind you if the US crashes we only ever seem to head one way. | niggle
29/5/2018 11:16 | 🤖 The doom and gloom what they call news has started again, what loosers they are . 29/5/2018 11:05 | Another debt crisis on the horizon as I warned a while ago. Too much debt all over the world. "We've seen a steep sell-off in risk assets as the Italian political troubles deepen, with investors seemingly dumping their exposure to Italy," said Neil Wilson, chief analyst for Markets.com "The moves this morning warrant attention as we are seeing some incredible price action in Italian bonds with the market moving at speeds not seen since the worst of the eurozone debt crisis. "The big question is whether this is just an Italian problem or one that risks significant spill-over into the rest of Europe." | debsdowner

29/5/2018 09:14 | BBC business live: (More store closures) "Dixons Carphone has warned that its full-year profit will fall by 21%. The mobile phone and electrical goods retailer expects pre-tax profits of £382m for 2017-18, down from £501m last year. Dixons Carphone then expects pre-tax profits will come in at "around £300m" for the following financial year. It also said that it will close 92 stores. Dixons said "challenges in UK mobile" continued, including "contractual constraints" such as people not renewing their handsets as frequently. The company has been cutting costs in anticipation of lower profits margins. The group said total sales were 3% higher in the year to 16 Apri, while like-for-like sales were up 4%. In the UK, sales grew 2% for the year as a whole, and by 1% in the fourth quarter. The international division division did better, with like-for-like sales in the Nordics up 9% in the year and Greece up 11%." | debsdowner
29/5/2018 09:10 | mr If mobile phone is bellweather it doesn't look good for retail in general. I'm convinced we will see a further profit warning from Debenhams. | debsdowner

29/5/2018 08:54 | DIXONS outlook statement knock share fall 20%. "we are budgeting for a contraction in the UK electricals market and will use our scale to maintain our market share. We expect some cost increases in UK electricals, notably National Living Wage and IT depreciation, partially offset by gross margin recovery initiatives, including range optimisation, better availability and reduced levels of markdown." Further evidence of poor consumer confidence not helped by rising costs. Markets are looking overvalued investors will look for quality not poor quality bad balance sheet shares. | debsdowner
29/5/2018 07:19 | There is really nothing to say until we get guidance on this quarter. I'm with you tho', stores dead, online difficult. Moneyweek spoke of a focus on financial services for Debs but I don't see that lifting it from the mire. I assume Mr Greasy is still being rude, with robot and Q all spouting the same rubbish. | niggle

28/5/2018 12:08 | Simon, remember FXPO ! You were just as negative on that one at 12p. Now they're over £2. You're just the perfect gauge for value picking. | mreasygoing
28/5/2018 10:26 | Doing deals with Landlords isn't going to be easy for Debenhams as reported by the Mail yesterday on House of Fraser woes. Landlords may want a stake in the company to ensure they have some insurance against unpaid bills. Even a CVA isn't a guarantee, it needs at least 75% agreement from Landlords. Sooner or later and probably sooner I think Debenhams will warn again, consumer spend is reducing, costs are rising and the weak £ will raise import costs. If the city think MARKS is a sell Debenhams is in a worse state. | debsdowner
27/5/2018 22:24 | Shorts doomed to failure also at MKS Amazon Lurks I knew they would as they once did the website for MKS before they took it back in house. Please do your own research | qantas

27/5/2018 18:35 | M&S no longer special say the Independent.. But what about Debenhams? The old department store concept was for a time when one could go to their local department store and could get just about everything. Then things changed, other stores specialised in garden furniture, electrical, beds, towels sheets and just about everything else. If readers watched the Marks programme on Chanel 5 last week fashion also evolved with many more entrants coming into the market like Zara, Primark and ASOS. The choice now almost unlimited Debenhams cannot stock all the different brands neither can it offer the same online choice it market share has fallen per store. If the market thinks Marks is doomed with a better margin business than Debenhams, Debenhams looks like it will fail first. A recession would finish Debenhams and with a hard BREXIT a possibility things look like they will get worse later this year. | debsdowner
27/5/2018 08:16 | The company have had no option to cut staff, the overheads are too high, and with regards to an empty looking store that equates to what I saw at my local Debenhams. Nit good. | debsdowner |
