My earlier post now details the full multibuy offers instead of just the one so you get a better idea on pricing. I think we get a tremendous margin on the sandwiches shown below so it might be worth asking Noel about margins in more detail next week.

Just out of interest is the 5 for £20 deal supposed to have some added value to encourage peeps to buy more ? They are identical offerings at 3 for £12 or 5 for £20 so no real encouragement to bulk up or am I missing something ? The pix look fab btw and I see the black pig is finding his way into every bit of signage these days !

I visited our new shop in the Leeds Merrion Centre this morning and found it open for business with shelves full and counters gleaming bright.

The specialist new store opening team were there to ensure everything went smoothly. The shop itself was previously a Cooplands store. We have taken out the front window and installed a hot counter facing the walkway to entice people to stop and walk inside.

The shop is a small unit but we have made the most of the space available. I suspect the deal offered on the lease was too tempting to ignore.

Noel had been in yesterday when they opened and seems to have settled into the team very well.

In my opinion it’s the hot food that will get people through the door and while inside they will discover the fresh deals that are currently 3 for £6 & 5 for £10 in the £2.50 range, 3 for £12 & 5 for £20 in the £5 range & 3 for £20 in the £10 range. The selection on the fresh counter has also grown so everything seems to be progressing well.

You are booked in ....At this rate we will be full well before the award winning sausages or rib eye steaks are delivered. Maybe we should have a raffle for a Christmas hamper lol.
I already have seven who have never been to a Mello in Beckenham before so should be a great evening.

Just to let you know that Noel has accepted my invitation and will present the growth story of Crawshaws 'From Lidl to large' at my next Mello Monday dinner event in Beckenham. Richard Rose first presented there 18 months ago so it will be a very popular update and perfect timing as the results are now out. I already have 37 signed up to come but do email me to let me know you will be joining us on Monday 18th May if you can make it...

When you say big bag that was clearly a lorry load to have boosted sales and share price so swiftly ! I am currently working on Richard and Noel coming to our next Mello dinner as the results release last week messed up my well laid plan to introduce Noel in Peterborough. Will keep everyone posted.

I was buying around the 38-43 mark and since then been fully invested. Imo LFL sales will increase once the new stores bed in so all things considered I expect this to rise. Happy to hold and would top up if I could

now a cynic might say the the slightly downbeat figures earlier this week compare ed to the trading update might be because they want this plan to start at as low a price as possible. It may therefore be the case that the next update will be better than expected. Let's see

I can't seem to grasp how the lfl sales drop mirrors a 9% fall in price. Seems a overreaction. If I wasn't fully invested I would top up here as I expect this to bounce

Hi Shanklin,

I would like to think the performance part of the award would not be triggered by a large placing!!

Quite !

Assuming the reference date is today 24th April, they've got a helpfully lower Hurdle Rate starting point, too......;-<<br /> ATB

The bod need to sort out the wording in these trading statements, results are ahead but not materially ahead. This is probably the cause of the fall today.
I would say the cap is a little ahead now until the next trading update is released.

MEATY RESULTS FOR EXPANDING BUTCHER
A South Yorkshire-headquartered butcher, which acquired a North West-focused rival earlier this month, has reported increased sales and profits in its latest accounts.

In accounts for the 53 weeks to 31 January, Crawshaw Group increased sales by 17 per cent to £24.6m.

Additional sales were said to have been generated by its new shop opening in Sheffield in March and a new factory shop in Rotherham in November.

Average customer spend also continues to rise, Crawshaw said, and is up 3.5 per cent to £6.22.

The business, which moved from three separate head office and factory locations into one newly refurbished facility in Rotherham in November, said the single location was now supporting up to 60 shops and also contains a new factory shop which is performing well above expectations.

Reported EBITDA for the year increased 15 per cent to £1.6m while profit before tax rose to £1.2m.
