25/1/2012 18:43 | goldmachine, if you don't mind me asking, do you hold your CPT in certified form with Selftrade? or in normal nominee dealing a/c? Did you take the dividend or capital-return option? (just interested why Selftrade paid out to you on Fri, vs the rest of us yesterday) Many thanks | papy02
25/1/2012 09:31 | Ditto re Selftrade payment...at last. | praipus
24/1/2012 22:37 | And lo and behold the 12c payout is now in my (wife's) Selftrade account ! Maybe my rant earlier today changed something ! (unlikely) No contract note but fx rate looks like 1.2063. | papy02
24/1/2012 14:44 | thanks all for the info. yes I am a higher rate tax.....etc. Sounds like I chose the wrong option. | maanie_2660
24/1/2012 14:41 | Hi Praipus, I take the fact that the cheque to the custodian is in Sterling to mean they took the CPT option to pay out in Sterling (as they did last time for the 25c payout) - which saves us from their greedy (as well as inept) fx handling. Hoping that is the case as on Thurs I reduced my spreadbet to hedge the Euro exposure, to reflect this payout. | papy02
24/1/2012 14:30 | I've got a note from selftrade saying no sign of it on Friday! Also they seem to add a few days for their inept fx handling so dont expect the money soon. | praipus
24/1/2012 14:27 | Spoke to Selftrade today re where the dividend is. They say the cheque in sterling was banked by their custodian last Fri, but we need to allow 5 working days for cheque to clear and payments to be made = end of this week (!*@!). | papy02
24/1/2012 11:46 | maanie on the assumption you have received the payment as a dividend then you must declare this as income on your tax return, box 3 in last years return. Keep the dividend voucher which should show that you have already paid basic rate tax. So nothing more to pay unless you are a higher rate tax payer. Even so the payment must be declared. | grahamg8
24/1/2012 10:31 | You are right, default is divi. No sign of it yet through simply but they are usually a few days behind other outfits... | fugwit
24/1/2012 09:30 | Still nothing.... | praipus
23/1/2012 16:14 | maanie, did you elect for the money to be paid as a dividend or as a capital-return (if neither I think the default is dividend)? | papy02
23/1/2012 16:08 | I have received my payment check. Can someone tell me if this has to be declared to inland revenue? I have made no profit and am concerned that dividend or CGT are being mentioned. | maanie_2660
23/1/2012 09:22 | Still nothing from Selftrade. | praipus
22/1/2012 13:48 | Actually HL are very good service wise, but DMA orders are limited to NMS for Euro demoninated stocks - who wants to put an order in for 20,000 CPT ??? EX rate was 1.2063 on the certified stuff. | rbcrbc
21/1/2012 18:44 | Thanks RBCRBC. I must admit that I have asked Hargreaves to take me off their mailing list (with absolutely no impact) and as a result feel very reluctant to consider their services thinking if they dont listen to their prospective customers how do they treat their customers? Anyway emotion aside it sounds like they are operating as you would expect a normal broker in the year 2012 to behave.....unlike Slothtrade. | praipus
21/1/2012 11:37 | They were credited in Sterling. HL sent a letter a little while ago saying that they would be receiving the divi in EUR and converting it before crediting it to accounts. I got 9.8178p per share, and Ex rate of 1.2222 | rbcrbc
21/1/2012 10:01 | Are the Hargeaves accounts multi currency? or were they credited in stirling anyway? | praipus
21/1/2012 09:39 | My cheque for my certified holding turned up sometime after 12:00 yesterday, and also my cash in Hargreaves turned up sometime after 12:00 yesterday. | rbcrbc
21/1/2012 08:17 | Praipus, got my money on 20th Friday quite late in the day, using Hargreaves. | grahamg8
20/1/2012 18:30 | Hmmm none in mine, are you sure? | praipus
20/1/2012 18:30 | Not in my (wife's) SelfTrade a/c yet :-( (We went for dividend option - I think last time that added a day or 2, for reasons unknown) | papy02
20/1/2012 18:06 | Praipus, money in my self trade account today at conversion rate of 1.2063 | goldmachine
20/1/2012 09:38 | I use Selftrade so of course I have to wait TEN days for the divi/redemption proceeds. Just out of curiosity has anyone got their dividend already and which broker do you use? | praipus
18/1/2012 16:25 | Get yourself on the order book if you fancy getting inside the spread. | horndean eagle
18/1/2012 15:56 | It'll be interesting to see what happens to the spread after tomorrow when we should get a chuck of cash to spend somewhere. I'm not too keen on putting more in here with the current spread. | rbcrbc |
