05/3/2007 22:04 | chopsy I think you are right! more like concrete really... One Fine Day and all that? | cleo1601
05/3/2007 20:58 | No trades today. I think there is a liquidity issue here. | chopsy
03/3/2007 17:05 | HD - we'll have another announcement by the end of March or maybe before on EZ 303, and if that's positive we should see the share price moving up. If they can get out the kit lost down EX 313 (?) and maybe get production to 2000 bpd by end of year, then they should be generating significant cash. 2000 bpd = c. $1m p/w. I'm assuming they have an export licence and are not selling at local Kazakh prices. Is this right? I'll try e-mailing the companny for an estimate of what they think the production will be to the end of 2007. Like you I think it looks cheap. | rupe1958
02/3/2007 20:48 | Hope so rupe - it's all down to the fishing, I think. If and when they can retrieve the lost kit, production will look fine. Share price showing a few signs of life at last. Tempted to add again but experience stays my hand. Still, I'll be in pretty big as soon as we get a positive announcement. The share price is suggestive of a possible collapse. If this doesn't happen, they're very good value indeed. | hiddendepths
27/2/2007 11:11 | Hiddendepths: I think they have about $10m left in cash, and I'd guess their strategy will be to conserve this and accumulate more cash through production. They are definitely not in a position to drill any more deep wells at the moment. A 5000m well costs something like $15m. Terms for raising cash are tough at the moment, but if the oil price keeps rising, or stabilises in the mid-60's, terms for re-financing might improve. What I'm still unsure about with CEK is their current production. I think its under 1000bpd, but will rise this year to more like 3000bpd as they sort out these technical problems with teh wells. | rupe1958
27/2/2007 10:58 | What's up today? Possible news of test equipment recovery leaking? | chopsy
23/2/2007 07:07 | Well, we have a progress report and it's not too bad. The share price was certainly suggesting worse. Hopefully they are getting close to retrieving the production testing kit. I had been fearing that they'd given up on it. And they're looking into 2008 already. I just wonder how the cash position is holding up with the main well out of action. I think they'd find it tough to raise equity finance with the share price where it is. | hiddendepths
08/2/2007 00:35 | Well #301 is shut-in for the moment (tested at 2600bopd before they lost half the testing kit down the hole - currently working to retrieve it), little production elsewhere whilst acid stimulation work is ongoing. | drewz
05/2/2007 09:48 | Does anyonne know what CEK's current production is, or what its combined P1 and P2 reserves are. This is not clear from the company website. P3 + P4 reservesw are very high. The market cap is now very low (c.£40m), so there is a good chance of a bounce-back with this stock, but I'd like to know more about thier production | rupe1958
23/1/2007 17:26 | Well, we've got our news. It's bad but I guess it could be worse. The market has been expecting something of the sort for some time now. The drilling contractors seem to have messed up bigtime. It's really unlucky to run into such problems when you are desperate for a good well. My understanding from another source is that the acreage is fine, there is good oil around but operating difficulties have been endemic. Sorry about the tip cleo. It just goes to show that even good stories can go pear-shaped in E & P. | hiddendepths
15/1/2007 11:54 | Is this the bottom? When is the next news out? | christuckett
17/12/2006 17:56 | According to the RNS in October, the drilling to Devonian level ought to have been completed by end November, with the rig then being moved to the next prospect. Has something happened that I've missed? was there bad news that brought the share price to the current level? anyone? tia! | cleo1601
07/12/2006 20:05 | Hi Robin! You here too? HD I'd love to sell half if it doubles... what do you do if it quarters tho? LOL I did: I bought more! I know I shouldn't but some of my buys are now in profit, which will reduce the timespan for overall profit I hope. I do think it's a good prospect but the performance since I first bought has been a bit of a worry. It's the usual story with these very illiquid stocks and I'm beginning to wonder about PANR, so sold half today at good profit to run the rest without anxiety. Are you in it? | cleo1601
07/12/2006 17:13 | 5 years is an investment horizon, cleo. In practice, it is usually much faster. As the stock rises it makes sense to reduce one's holding. So when it doubles, sell half and run half! Then do the same again on the next doubling! Max should really fly in 2007 because of its active drilling program. If Kazakhstan is going to be the new Mauritania, CEK should perform as well. My guess is that it will be acquired next year (by the Chinese?) but wtfdik. | hiddendepths

28/10/2006 09:48 | Even the chart's starting to look good. Maybe time to top up again. I'm glad it's PEPable! Nice to see smart cookies in here, even if there's precious few of us with this one - so far. I agree with your timeframe drewz. 5 years is sensible. I was in Tullow at 11ish, Burren at below 150, Dana at 8p (before the 1 for 15) and so on. If you buy quality in the junior oils and have lots and lots of patience, you can be a consistent winner. I'm sure even your initial purchase will come good cleo - maybe as soon as next year. If Max gets hot, CEK will rock! | hiddendepths
24/10/2006 17:33 | Keep holding them, Cleo. You may be able to sell them for £10 each in 5 years time. I wish I could afford more but I'm fully invested in my ISA now for this year. | drewz
24/10/2006 15:52 | up 5.4% in Toronto today with over 73k traded so far. I seem to be a self-appointed town crier on this board - just hope I'm not going mad and talking to myself. | cleo1601
23/10/2006 16:20 | up 10.5% in Toronto | cleo1601
19/10/2006 14:47 | UP 5.5% on the TSX on one trade of 300! fingers crossed for a large buy in the background? | cleo1601 |
