thank you for that info on TSX - forwarned and all that. Does your comment that next news "may" not be until November imply that it could be sooner? I cannot see any way to find out. Funny, I get quite irritated by the weekly drilling updates of certain of my other holdings but the silence here is so deafening it might be nice to get the odd crumb of comfort that they are actually still at it and haven't gone to sleep or left the country...

Something must be afoot: 2 posts from people other than myself in one day!

The next news may not be until November - down 4% tonight on TSX this could slide further expect another 2 or 3p off tomorrow, but as been said when this does move on positive news it moves very quickly, i shall look to top up towards the end of the month

Lovely to see you here drewz. I have the distinction of having first bought these at 172. When they move, boy do they move though! (so far down in my experience but I'm sure they'll go in the other direction on some good drilling news). Trouble is they have deep, slow projects and can therefore stay down a long time. There has been some buying lately at these levels (other than mine that is). I'd be interested to hear what you think if you take a close look. Sorry you're having a similar experience to my own. We are in a self-perpetuating negative cycle just now I think where many cannot pick up obvious bargains because they're fully committed to stuff that's not worth selling. Gives some of us (me) time for the sort of study that might have been useful before buying in. Mind you, I'd still have bought quite a few of what I've got.

Cleo,

You are not alone! CEK has been on my watch list for a while so I have been reading your observations. But I generally don't say anything myself unless I feel I can add something useful. And I haven't looked into CEK much yet as I'm fully invested with underperforming AIM-listed oil stocks elsewhere!

Market sentiment for these small cap oilers continues to be dreadful. My AIM listed miners are just as bad too.

Ho, hum, sentiment can change very quickly once Mr Market decides USA is not going to go into recession after all.

Personally, I do not think US growth slowing from 3.7% in 2006 to 3.2% in 2007 warrants this wholesale sell off since May.

I put it down to far too much speculating by hedge funds.

3 trades today, all buys (one mine!) and no improvement. I hope this doesn't mean there's a large sell order in the background. Seems unlikely at these levels but the market never fails to amaze...

Hey ho, back to talking to myself again then.

extraordinary! I cannot think of any other share where an RNS would make zero impact on the bulletin board. This one is modest to the point of non-existence.

I'll switch the light out as I go then...

"Well, that's my take. At these prices, CEK is a gift."

Well its cheaper today, didn't flow. What's your take now, is this a one well problem or a field problem?

I sold a couple of weeks ago, but bought back in this morning after the drop, which to me looks excessive. Also impressed by the post below which I have copied from the Stockhouse board.

"Based on the market action and some of the messages posted here, it is clear that some folks don't get the most basic, relevant facts established by EZ-302. To some "the sky is falling, the sky is falling".
All I can say is "Horsefeathers!"

CEK announced Friday the logging and perforating 350 of net pay in the KT-2 formation in EZ-302. That is a gigantic column of pay by any standard.

Per other PR's, we also know that CEK has yet to complete the testing of the KT-1 column, as it announced it was also doing. The bottom line is that there's OIL THERE!! LOTS OF OIL!

How much oil? 3D that 350' oil column over the area EZ-302 has proved up. Folks, this permits a huge expansion of the 1P, 2P, 3P and OOIP calculations for this field.

How much more areal extent does EZ-302 establish? Well, just look at the maps. EZ-302 is located about 5.2 KM (about 3 miles) away from EZ-301 and is substantially down dip of the crest. [See slide 17 in the March 06 CEK presentation on the website.]

There were NO SOVIET ERA WELLS IN THE VICINITY of EX-302! [unlike EZ301 which lay between EZ214 and 213] Consequently, this area was NOT included in the Soviet era 193MM barrels of C-3 reserves.

The fact that CEK logged 350 feet of net pay in EZ-302 three miles from EZ-301 establishes a gigantic southern extension of the field. This is huge and the most critical fact that we've learned from the PR!

This well also confirmed CEK's geologic model of the middle reaches of E. Zhagbulek. As you note LOT, this is a shoreline ramp complex, as pictured in Slide 18 of CEK's March investor presentation posted on its website. EZ-302 was drilled right in the middle of the complex. (EZ-301 was close to the old shoreline).

What is the impact? At a minimum, EZ-302 permits CEK to book millions of additional barrels of proved and probable reserves. To show that oil extends down slope at least an additional 3 MILES permits modeling the reservoir to include tremendous 3P reserves and OOIP. This is a critical fact to understand in comprehending this story.

The entire complex in their model is over 18 square miles, i.e. over 11,000 acres. EZ 302 has established that more than half that model, i.e about 6500 acres, has 350 foot oil columns in the KT2 alone (and KT1 is not yet tested in EX 302]!!

If EZ-303 encounters similar pay, it will extend the field at least another 3+ miles.

Is this a big deal?. You bet.

Here is a relevant comparison to the well bore damage. Well SA-4 at neighboring S. Alibek had well bore damage and couldn't flow. It was the Transmeridian's third well, and clearly some folks were rattled. The price dropped, but recovered and roared to new highs.

Nothwithstanding the mechanical problems with SA-4, Transmeridian's reserve engineers, Ryder Scott, booked proved and probable reserves for SA-4. The stock has gone from $0.80 to over $6.00 USD since that little "duster" as more wells were drilled. TMY plans to either reenter or to do a sidetrack of that well.

EZ-302 might have well bore damage or other mechanical problems that will not permit it to flow. That's not good. But CEK was wise to stop and study how whether to change the acid stimulation of the well because their first two attempts [over small intervals] were not successful.

TMY changed it's acid stimulation procedure on its latest well, SA-11, and had IP of over 1400 BOPD. [TMY went back to high strength high velocity acid treatment (24% HCI)[. That was very similar to the VDA high strength acid used on its first well, SA-1, which had an IP of 1600 ++ BOPD.

Some folks have clearly lost sight of the most critical fact established by EZ-302, namely the huge areal extension of the field. We now know that there are hundreds of millions more barrels of recoverable oil in East Zag than the 193MM C-3 barrels booked by the Soviets, [and EZ-303 is drilling yet another 3.6 miles away! where the Soviets have not drilled!!].

Well, that's my take. At these prices, CEK is a gift."

Indeed it was bad news. We have a double whammy - selling in advance by those in the know followed on by a hefty markdown when the news is released.

It looks a bit excessive to me!
