17/6/2022 13:38 | pierre your ratio of ticket vs onboard spend is good, in 2019 ccl had 14bn of ticket and 6bn onboard revenues unfortunately that is only half your revenue estimate, op income in 2019 was only 3bn, so once things get back to normal that is the kind of revenue and profits we can look forward to, profits being roughly one seventh of revenues does mean we are currently looking at seven years trading just to repay the capital sum, never mind the interest…of course they have no intention of ever repaying the debt, their goal will be to keep it manageable and buy more ships…this is far from rosy, but we all know how good the industry is, another two years like 2020 and 2021 would probably make the debt unsustainable though imv…. i presume the mkt is now thinking profits will be much less than 3bn in the upcoming recession, that is the 64 thousand dollar question…. | ![]() stansmith3

17/6/2022 12:03 | 24bill seems a lot, but not to the cash generating cruising industry. bofp. a scenario of 1 ship, 4000 pax, average person fare per week £1250, average on board spend ex tips £750. That's the scenario i'll look at. So 2k pw for 4k pax = £8m pw, or £400m pa. 92 ships, so say potential £40bill pa. knock off half to allow for factors other posters will no doubt come up with, that still leaves the full sailing potential cash flow of £20 billion pa. debt is one year revenue when fully sailing under that sceneario. | pierre oreilly
