Many times. If you time your buys and sells well (ie just as the price is turning or moving), they are often mis-labelled

Remember it’s the reverse of what u are thinking ,, the bid price is actually the price somebody wants to pay

Another amazing non story published by The Times as part of their ongoing vendetta against Capita. Would be interesting to see if the FCA can find any connections between trading in Capita shares and Times journalists/management.

Am sure the Market makers will be trying to hold the price down as long as possible, with or without any reason, to collect as much as they can from panicked sellers.

A little too pessimistic I think but that difference in views is what makes the market. One can never buy at the bottom. I have topped up now because I think it is virtually there. Time will tell.

Unless there really is more bad news, doubt this will creep much further south. Have taken a punt and increased my portfolio holding from 8 to 22%

Why would Capita be fined for "continuing to comply with all relevant regulatory obligations."?

Now that we know a bit more, it seems very unlikely data was encrypted (the press were screaming ransomware attack), the infiltration was still in the lateral movement phase. If this is the limit of it then I think we're all good and it was well contained. Typically a hacker wouldn't want to encrypt or download too much data while they were still spreading the payload, it draws attention.

My biggest concern is that we started with "an IT incident" which escalated to a "cyber security incident with no data affected" to a "cyber security incident with potential data leaked and 4% of the estate affected". I hope that's the result of a thorough investigation and not that they only release bad news as they are forced to do so.

My gut says Capital caught it in time and any damage is fairly limited.

Those are just theoretical maximums that will never apply else there will be uproar. Companies (which employ millions of people) are struggling to make money even without penalties
