29/10/2020 10:56 | We being the UK, so it's just as well burford has no particular UK macro economic exposure. Marooned by Brexit on this island's path to ruin, I am very glad to be heavily invested in an international rising star! | time_traveller
29/10/2020 09:33 | The AZN vaccine has been tested on elderly patients and shown to work as well It's a little confusing as there's lots of publicity put out by the various groups making vaccines - some are likely to work better and some are easier to mass produce Even if it's a once a year flu jab, it would still be a big part of the solution More concerning thing is that out of the OECD we are the most economically damaged | williamcooper104
29/10/2020 08:41 | William, it’s very likely that a vaccine will not ever give ‘full immunisation’. It may well boost immunisation for a period, but that may only last a few months and is unlikely to be particularly effective for older people and people with certain conditions etc. In short, it’s unlikely that it’ll be what most people are expecting it to be. | gettingrichslow
29/10/2020 01:52 | Successful stage 3 trials will push up equities - and that's potentially weeks to a few months away Depends on which vaccine passes stage 3 when as to how quickly it gets rolled out - some of them are easier than others, and some are being mass produced already so as to be able to roll out quickly if they pass trials At risk groups would get it first, it will take a while to get full immunisation but the end would be in sight | williamcooper104
29/10/2020 00:50 | “Vaccine is weeks away” LOL!! No chance. And once there is one, it will take around 2-3 years for mass immunisation to be implemented. There was a good debate on Bloomberg about this the other day - most people are completely in cloud cuckoo land about what’s involved. | gettingrichslow
28/10/2020 21:58 | In saying that it looks like a volatile week with a probable down day tom, which should provide a buying opportunity, I for 1 am considering adding. Any thoughts. Patience is a virtue an all that | bogman1
28/10/2020 21:55 | Keep the faith rar. I think this is all for a general uptrend, it is a momentum market at the moment with all the external factors. That will swiftly turn. It always does. Vaccine is weeks away. No doubt holding out for the election. The money will come flooding back into the us market | bogman1
28/10/2020 20:42 | Time traveller Thanks very much for your considered reply, whoa - lots to digest there... One thing I concur with very much is the timing of the listing, as you say, a bad time just by Covid sods law and the US election, non stimulus etc. I'm not quite sure how much luck is actually a force in nature, but Burford somehow hasn't been lucky with things of late. For a long time this was an investors stock and then it all turned on its head and became a traders stock that just kept on giving, i guess it still is... The idea of a boat is brilliant...yeah like you i wanted to sell about now after holding for 3+ years and thought a couple of years ago it would be something like £25 share price by now, and I was off to Cornwall or S.Devon after selling the lot... Such is life 9said Ned Kelly on the gallows. Good luck to you | rar100
28/10/2020 19:02 | They all f up at times | williamcooper104
28/10/2020 19:02 | Yep - we still have a high beta - US listing as of yet hasn't changed it Bond prices are a good data point | williamcooper104
28/10/2020 16:25 | FAO George Stobbart. P*ss off. Nonsense all the time. | warno01
28/10/2020 16:03 | so further to my earlier post about selling BUR in an IG ISA, after phoning to trade, even their trader could not. He is going to ask their corporate actions team to look at it as it appears they have attached the wrong code to the stock, ... or something. so i've been locked into that trade as it reduced in value by 4%. very disappointing as IG have previously seemed competent | redalert
28/10/2020 15:39 | all stocks are green and this ponzi scam is crashing. any news? | george stobbart
28/10/2020 13:42 | Who knows! We still have kuvari and Gladstone that we know about, and the smaller ones we don't. Take a trader with good knowledge of the clunky us/UK liquidity mismatches, a faintly embarrassing NYSE chart downward trajectory from listing, and the UK looking like it wants to back test £6 - all just my hunch. But honestly, I'm long (I never go short). Meh, Im not selling (although I very nearly sold half near to £8 to buy a boat to sail away from this virus BS, and now I've backed out, so it's very annoying. Not everyone invests "for ever"). IMO we could now be welll above £8 if it was timed closer to what were excellent results, and management had really bigged up said results, issued new shares and not rely on sporadic liquidity osmosis from the UK to feed the US, restart divis, and a bit of luck to not drop the listing into a market wobble. Much of that is beyond management's control however, and overall, I'm pleased we've expanded beyond that AIM backwater. On the other hand, the bonds are holding up very well, and I look at those as a (crude) predictor. | time_traveller
28/10/2020 12:52 | Time traveler, Is BUR being shorted in the US or just here? Excuse my ignorance but why is that in your opinion? You sound as if you think BUR is a sitting target... | rar100
28/10/2020 12:25 | I had reservations beforehand about the way the dual listing was being done, and so far it seems they were well founded. It'll sort itself out in time, but yet again, Burford make it too easy for the shorters. Looked at from the us standpoint, really not a good look so far. | time_traveller
28/10/2020 12:16 | WC104 that is really helpful to know as it confirms that there are some problems with trading BUR since it listed in US. regards RA | redalert
28/10/2020 11:44 | Nope - but I tried to buy a little on IB and kept getting "invalid order" Going to have a go on HL | williamcooper104
28/10/2020 11:23 | is anyone else having difficulty selling BUR on IG's ISA platform? RA | redalert
28/10/2020 09:15 | Aston Martin volume today at 9.07am 20,895,422 BUR volume 140,431 Big day today for Aston Martin however, and right now they are down 3% same as BUR If only BUR were as well known as Aston Martin... Its bad days on the markets now due to Covid mainly, and US election, and a US stimulus not happening, so everything is going down. | rar100
28/10/2020 08:55 | Yes volumes are pitiful, have been for days - if more people knew about BUR, the volumes would increase. I didn't take note of the volumes when it listed on the 19th, anyone know? - i think they were much better than now... | rar100
28/10/2020 08:19 | Back to 600p ? on no volumes - frustrating | hatfullofsky
27/10/2020 20:18 | GAN shot up on listing, doubled in days (diff kettle of fish though) I expected i guess a steady climb after the initial jump. So are you saying that the share price now is in the right ball park? Yes the IC is not great, was better i think when i read that BUR article which was something like 3 years ago. i don't read it now. I don't make an opinion as to why people buy and sell, its their business. The IC article then gave me the best investment until MW. I'm not bothered by my credibility on this board, I shouldn't moan, maybe I'm wrong to do so, but constructive criticism is not a negative thing. The reasons i bought initially are as i said the US journo's could write about, many reasons, but it was first brought to my attention by the IC, it was a very positive article. exactly as could be published all over the US. The fact that MW were proved wrong is just another interesting bit that a lot of US investors would be interested to read. Fact: The more the mass market knows/is educated of BUR's business model, what Lit Fin actually is and does and why its good (and is new to most) the more people can decide if they wish to invest in it. That's all I'm saying, the more good news is spread about, the more people can choose to invest. Most people have no idea it exists, i didn't until I read the article in IC, It immediately appealed to me so i invested, and kept on investing when I had a the cash to do so at whatever price, so my average cost rose and the MW attack out of nowhere crashed my investment. But I held, still do. | rar100
27/10/2020 19:00 | rar100....BUR have only been listed in the US since Oct19th. Were you seriously expecting a major move in 7 trading days? It's also up approx 250% from the April low and also 20% in the last month. The price is steadily moving in the right direction as the less knowledgeable sell and more knowledgeable buy.Another thing.....the IC is almost the last place you should look for investment ideas. It would help your credibility on this board if you could outline your reasoning for buying in initially. Hopefully there was more to it than a tip in the IC? | devalpha |
