Going to be one interesting day for those holding these. With those additional director buys and company share buy backs planned, this should be back to £15 in no time and then onwards from there.

Those trades you cite were yesterday. Yes I turned cautious on Burford but posting concerns on this thread a year or so ago was ridiculed - so yes I'm interested in how the MW/BUR tussle evolves, as to the truth on accounting etc.

Burford has answered the specific points on return calculations raised by the short sell note comprehensively and convincingly in our view. It was also clear that there is a formula used to calculate fair value, but that we will not find out what any individual investment’s carrying value is. Liquidity is not a problem; we expect progress on governance issues and the underlying business is the same as a week ago. BUR looks undervalued to us.

Burford has been in business for 10 years...no issues. Not only that but they are selling parts of their cases to over 40 different investors and a sovereign wealth fund. That was all mentioned yesterday.

And yet....some upstart comes along, sets up a short, publishes a load of dirt - which is their business model - and all of a sudden Burford is hammered.

Ridiculous.

Burford Capital Limited ("Burford"), the leading global finance and investment management firm focused on law, has been notified of certain share purchases made yesterday afternoon by Hugh Steven Wilson, Burford's Deputy Chairman, and Charles Parkinson, who is a member of the Board of Directors of Burford.

As outlined in previous announcements, Mr Wilson and Mr Parkinson can confirm that they have purchased shares following release of Burford's response to the Muddy Waters report. Mr Wilson purchased 25,000 ordinary shares of nil par value in Burford ("Ordinary Shares") on the market at a price of 797.55 pence per share and Mr Parkinson purchased 8,000 Ordinary Shares on the market at a price of 655 pence per share.

As a result of these transactions, Mr Wilson controls a total of 225,000 Ordinary shares, amounting to 0.10% of the issued share capital and Mr Parkinson controls a total of 8,000 Ordinary Shares in Burford, amounting to 0.004% of the issued share capital.

The Notification of Dealing Forms for each of the transactions mentioned above are included at the end of this announcement.

Thanks getting rich slow,if I'd followed the philosophy suggested by your name,I wouldn't be so deeply invested! I think Williamcooper's point is valid.They should look at the case dispationately and,if willing to fund it for another company ,then do so.If not,then the answer is no.But the case,if taken,would have to be run,as with all the others,at arm's length.Management must focus on managing.Right,that's me done,way past bedtime.

djderry, I see you have a decent chunk of BUR and wish you the best of luck with the recovery. Having watched Block's nervy and stuttering performance on Bloomberg and then reading Burford's response very carefully, I'm now 70/30 that MW have got this wrong. One can't be sure obviously, but I suspect this will slowly recover. You never know, as others have pointed out, this could, in the long run, lead to a better-run and stronger Burford.
