I don't think what they invest is relevant at all. An honest set-up really shouldn't feel forced to act because monkeys and the ignorant demand it. A charlatan could buy more to keep the ponzi scheme going. So purchases really mean diddly squat.

What matters are the issues of accounting that have been raised and whether they have been answered fully and comprehensively. It seems to me that there are still some open ended issues.

Still too risky for me this stock. Not impressed with the lady on the CC. No position though but like has been said before this will just bring out more hyenas to try and get their piece of meat. I have learned painfully in the past to try and fight these huge hedge funds can be dangerous to your wealth!

Well said Franki....good points. They've invested sizeable amounts and who is to say they wont buy more?

Seems to me Muddy Waters are well named....that's exactly what they do.

They've done their worst and as Burford have said they have been in business 10 years and there have been no further issues like this.

Hawkin, do you actually have any idea how much of their net worth are they keeping liquid? I am not sure how much you have in your account (not much by the sound of it), but most of high net worth individuals don't keep much in cash and invest in bonds/stocks/deposit accounts. Plus, keeping your money in GBP is a stupid idea now.

so for what we know they couldve used all of their GBP cash to make this purchase.

So please keep quite and learn finance.

Well let's see if more purchases follow. Even the ultra wealthy can't always lay their hands on several million quid just like that.

I would if there were nuts in it.

But like your brain, it is empty.

yasharsad,

Are you using a quote-to-deal or...? I thought IG is meant to offer Direct Market Access.

Edit: looks as if everything halted 9 minutes pre-close.

The poor performance today of the CFO, together with the episode of "the line just dropped" on the difficult question during the results conference call, really fails to inspire confidence in her and, by extension, confidence in the accounts she has been responsible for. Whatever the future holds for Burford, she needs to be replaced and moved to somewhere less sensitive.

Based on what they previously sold? Come on to give market and shareholder confidence that is not acceptable purchases to lead the way.....Feels too much like a few others in past year or two. Would anyone have seen Conviviality going bust. I was so tempted to buy, thank fock I didn't, so I will hold fire on this. I may miss out here but capital protection is key especially in this economy.
