Yes. It's usually, "I think you have a good case. Now, here's my bill for advance fees".

Should they have announced those share purchases ahead of an RNS?

I totally agree fozzie it's far too dangerous to even trade now. MW will come out fighting and CFO not performing the best will give them something else to chew on. MW will analyse the response and body language and go for it, especially if they believe BUR may seek damages against the claims. Very unlikely that there isn't some truths in the MW report even if they are small truths and may have been exasperated to cause a greater impact. If you like a gamble, go to the casino! This one is dangerous if you cannot afford to lose what you put in or at least a large sum of your capital, as I don't believe BUR will ever be insolvent but may struggle a little more now generating funds for new cases.

Trouble is so many of the lawyers might be out of a job before they get MW to Court, IF that is what they say they want to do in due course.

My experience of lawyers, is that they always suggest you have a good case, even if they know full well they only want to strip you of funds for their personal benefit. Any claim against you, has no merit according to them, until such time as they warn you of the risks in proceeding, and then suggest you settle and pay the other claimants legal fees.

That way they all win.

Stocks always go up much more slowly on excellent news than they take to go down on bad news ... boring. We should be well above 900p by now.

MW's smartest move right now would be to withdraw their document and offer all their shorting profits as compensation. That will save them legal costs and the possibility of punitive damages.

If you are not already in this, one way or the other, please don't get in. Market doesn't currently know what to do. MW will no doubt be hitting this again with everything they've got.

Why can't they get an accountant in the room to answer all the complicated accounting questions which is just about what all this is about?

Short attacks such as this are a fundamental menace to an orderly market and to the value inherent in long-term investing in companies such as Burford that are revolutionising industries. Burford is well equipped to investigate and pursue market manipulators, and as stewards of investor capital, we are exploring doing so here, cognisant of the substantial losses our investors have suffered. Our early investigation already shows the hallmarks of market manipulation.

MW watch out!!!
