Strongly agree paulof2; worth £1 depending on the outcome next year.

Should have div news this year, as they're now in FY2023. So, slow, but positive. Agree on the balance sheet:

Debt ratio sitting at 0.5.
Current ratio sitting at 5.25
Cash ratio at 0.34
Equity increased to 442,300 from 416,800.

All round, quite happy with them.

Disappointed at lack of dividend, be interesting to see how shares react this morning with them dumping the £28m legal provision in.

Will that offset the positives of maintaining guidance for next year and EBITDA this year of £95m vs a market cap of £121m.

The balance sheet is really quite incredible, I dont think I’ve ever seen such a discount to NAV on any share in my entire investing life.

Even after making that £28m provision that’s a ridiculous NAV per share of 96p.

More importantly even if you strip out intangibles and assume them to be completely worthless that’s still a NAV per share of 71p, almost 3x the share price.

Quite stunning, at this point they may as well call it a day wind up the business sell up and pay that out.

Good set of results, with profits doubling over last year and consolidation within the business model. The ongoing financial dispute with Allianz hangs like a cloud over the company who continue to make provisions (last year £28m) to address any settlement or final outcome. Until this is resolved the shareprice will not reflect the intrinsic value of the business.

Good one!

No but really, news on dividend might be the only thing to help this now. That, or Stella results, or a buy out lol.

Asos YTD: -41.55%
Boohoo YTD: -36.67%
Nike YTD: -33.51%
N Brown YTD: -37.47%

So quite systemic atm. Not questing browns profitability, and hope they can prove this on the results, however thing there is lower lows across the market still, and more pain.

I guess with QUIZ trading update this morning
clothing and internet clothing are back in fashion.

With browns netnet status I guess this company is
pretty cheap.

See trading update:

I guess we can assume N Brown is probably doing OK too?

Chartwise, this needs to break 35p to take us out of the 'downward channel'.
Under that still risks the continuing downside to 20p inside 6 weeks.
A break above sets 40p and 43p as immediate targets, with a 6 month target of 57p, which is major resistance.

Retailers are being shot at lately with consumer spend set to reduce imo with the cost of enrgy and food prices surging.

One to watch.

You might be right Paul. Looks unlikely to go bust and the downside looks limited.

I’d still rather not be in retail at all to be honest but I get what you say.

“If it can be mined” pretty much describes my holdings at the moment! From the ground or via an algorithm!

Not quite sure how it can remind you of Debenhams when this has proven to be incredibly cash generative over the last couple of years, and is still making a decent profit, with no big lease costs? Ie the opposite of Debenhams.

A profit which compared to its mcap is really quite ridiculous nevertheless.

Your point about it being family run with little ambition may be correct I’ll give you that, but at some point the family will want to start receiving dividends again and at less than 30p a share that’s going to be a big yield. Buying at 28/29 I’d be very surprised if I haven’t made my money back in dividends alone over the next 5 years.

If you have patience it’s a strong buy now at these levels IMO. It’s not going to blow the market away and boom over the next year but what will? Look at the online retail space, boohoo, jd, asos and even the likes of next & M&S all hit very hard of late.

Paul

It’s a crock of sh*t. Last time I posted was in July telling you ‘it will die’ ‘it reminds me of Debenhams’

I would not speculate on a family run company with no ambition.

Put your hard earned cash in miners.
