dougmachin: Red Ninja - agreed, whether BWNG is a bad buy or not is yet to be proved. Also, the same, only a modest holding. Still need a little more time on this one though IMO.

red ninja: Well whether BWNG is a bad buy is yet to be proved. Have traded it in the past, but below 57p ie placing price I hope the Alliance family are canny enough to win the day in the legal battle. Only in for a very modest punt all the same.

simmsc: Sadly yes, frustration got the better of me on this one. You remember a while i go i got frustrated but held on (giving it another chance) ... But i had enough this time. I'm concerned that a legal dispute with powerhouse such as Allianz could either hurt them ... Or at the very least become a big energy drain while they are defending.Incidentally, I'm a bit annoyed with scsw. They seem to go silent on stocks where things don't go their way. They have a fabulous track record in picking stocks. I have a monitor on advfn which has all their stock recommendations on there (since sept 2020) and most charts are pointing strongly upwards, with only a few pointing the other way. They would gain more credibility if they would comment on \ take ownership of only a handful of ones that they haven't got right. While they are doing this they could still show a chart of how many winners vs how many losers they have picked to remind people that while some go wrong, most still go right (to finish that section of the newsletter on a positive note). I will say though that bwng is probably still up from when they first tipped it. So this is not a direct comment about bwng, just a general comment.

masurenguy: Peel Hunt: N Brown shares can trade higher There is scope for shares in specialist clothing retailer N Brown (BWNG) to trade upwards after sales moved higher in the first quarter in expectation of life returning to normal post-lockdown. Analyst John Stevenson retained his ‘hold’ recommendation and target price of 75p on the owner of Jacamo and SimplyBe, which closed down 3.5%, or 2.1p, at 57p on Thursday. First quarter performance shows product sales up 4.6% in-line with expectations, and clothing sales jumped 21% year-on-year thanks to the easing of lockdown restrictions and improving weather. ‘The challenge is to demonstrate sustainable revenue growth and relevance in the brands, which will take time,’ said Stevenson. ‘Current trends are not dissimilar to what we have seen in the past, with a solid performance across the strategic brands diluted by the rest.’ The shares currently trade on an 8x price/earnings ratio and Stevenson said there is ‘scope for the shares to trade a bit higher’. https://citywire.co.uk

simmsc: Bwng (i hold) and Shoe (i hold) are in similar situations. Lacklustre trading update -> price drops -> owners mop up lower priced shares. On Shoe someone potentially bought 18 percent of the company today (who it was we will find out tomorrow or Monday). Similar thing could happen soon on BWNG (large share purchases). Low risk easy money (that's how i see them both).
