More great customer service from the cc:
British Airways passengers face a summer of cabin-crew strikes as union leaders vowed to ballot members within days for a fresh wave of industrial action over their perks. The so-called 'summer of strife' would target the main annual holiday breaks of millions of UK families which the union says aims to 'teach BA some manners.'

willy will have to win this one.
BA has been run for the benefit of the employees and not the customer for years.
the cultural change must be made now.
willy can win this one, and must.

2nd Iceland volcano issues warning
Scientists say powerful Katla is 'close to failure'

LONDON - A second, much larger volcano in Iceland is showing signs that it may be about to erupt, scientists have warned. Since the start of the Eyjafjallajökull eruption, which caused cancellations of thousands of flights in Europe because of a giant ash cloud, there has been much speculation about neighboring Katla.

An initial research paper by the University College of London Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction said: "Analysis of the seismic energy released around Katla over the last decade or so is interpreted as providing evidence of a rising ... intrusive magma body on the western flank of the volcano. Earlier seismic energy release at Katla is associated with the inflation of the volcano, which indicates it is close to failure, although this does not appear to be linked to seismicity around Eyjafjallajökull," it added. "We conclude that given the high frequency of Katla activity, an eruption in the short term is a strong possibility," the report said. "It is likely to be preceded by new earthquake activity. Presently there is no unusual seismicity under Katla."

Icelandic President Ólafur Grímsson has warned governments around Europe that a significant eruption at the volcano is close. "We [Iceland] have prepared - it is high time for European governments and airline authorities all over Europe and the world to start planning for the eventual Katla eruption," he said.

Ben Nevis, 25% of BA stock was out on loan in April (more up to date figures should become available free of charge on Tuesday or soon after). No wonder you can't short - there's not that much left to borrow!

If the BA board could get a grip on costs, it could do very well. Sorting out the cabin crews is the next step. Once this mindless bunch understand that they are being EMPLOYED by BA and are not management, a good lesson will be learned. The share price should appreciate then.

How this share can maintain a price around 190-230 is truely unbelievable.
This really is a basket case and share price would be at the top end at 20p

Tom Bulford of Penny Share Sleuth's view on AIM shares in ISAs:

But these clearly sound investments are off-limits to ISA investors. Instead they have been permitted to invest in the likes of Royal Bank of Scotland and British Airways. These, despite all their talk about Risk Management and Corporate Governance, are basically corporate basket cases that no sane investor would touch with a barge-pole.

Lol! Good job, Willie!

You have to understand that Willie cannot lose this strike; he is between a rock and a hard place. The only hope for BA is to significantly reduce costs and that means lots of redundancies, reductions in salaries and loss of perks. The mindless actions of the CC mean that the medicine will have to be that much stronger.

Unite clashed again with BA over the effect of the strike, claiming the airline was counting international cabin crew, who are not involved in the dispute, in its figures. Officials said 473 staff did not turn up to work yesterday in BA's Worldwide Flights division, with 361 reporting for duty, although this included temporary crew, international crew, and volunteers, so around 56% of staff were on strike.

In its Euro fleet, 274 staff did not report to work, said Unite, adding that 248 went in, well below the normal day's staffing. Union sources said they believed Mr Walsh sent a memo to staff yesterday saying that over the last few months 2,000 Bassa members had left the payroll. Union officials said this was untrue, maintaining that since January they have only lost 568 people.

Mr Woodley said: "This strike is now in day nine. The meter is running at £7 million per day, which means BA has lost £63 million at least on the strike - and that is before BA counts the cost of business lost when passengers look elsewhere during the peak summer period. On what planet does it make sound business sense to spend shareholders' and investors' money this way? Or to allow this instability to drag on?"

well said selborne and Jon

Simpson and woodley only think of their fat cheques they should be permanently disabled.
Those contracts were written 40 years ago just like the MPs expenses - world has changed, businesses have changed - get real those contracts need to be changed and there are thousands of younger and motivated crew who would do the same job with a smile and for less.
Willie if you read this - don't give in these thugs and goons!! Your legacy will live on for years to come if you can ground the opposition.

I found this quite funny:

Unite's joint leaders, Tony Woodley and Derek Simpson, failed to appear for an advertised visit to the picket lines, though Mr Simpson reported via Twitter that this was due to "travel difficulties" and the visit would go head on Tuesday.

Willie has no option except to fight the end even if that means administration. To give anything away to these bloody-minded strikers would only encourage them to make further demands. They just have to beaten or there is no future for BA.
