06/5/2010 10:12 | Massive New Iceland Volcano Eruption Overnight | cat100
06/5/2010 07:55 | joe143 Not sure where the other poster got his data from I have just checked with the CAA and obtained the following information - last year BA aircraft flew 887,836 passenger hours with a pilot base of 3238 which averages out at 274 or so actual flying hours on average per pilot. (Not including report and debrief times). Virgin pilots, who operate exclusively longhaul, flew 188,698 passenger hours with a pilot base of 755 which averages out at 250 flying hours per pilot (Not including report or debrief times) | exbacrew
06/5/2010 03:20 | exbacrew, not sure I follow you about pay for pilots - assuming as mentioned earlier by another poster, Virgin pilots work 750 hours per year and BA pilots work 850 hours per year :- Virgin cost = 89.9 x (850/750) = 101.89 BA cost = 108.4 Please clarify. Also how do BA workforce costs compare to other non - UK carriers ? | joe143
06/5/2010 00:18 | Whole process took circa 6/8 weeks if I recall | exbacrew
05/5/2010 17:44 | did 15 years of longhaul, left last year......Still waking up at night not knowing where I am.... Exbacrew, may I ask you how long it took to get your funds into a sipp | molecule
05/5/2010 16:44 | LOL - shauney2 - I left BA 10 years or so ago - did longhaul for a spell | exbacrew
05/5/2010 16:19 | Oh right! You must be ex longhaul then ;-) I agree re Waterside is vastly overstaffed but no way could they close BA and start again. | shauney2
05/5/2010 16:07 | Nooooo - I took my Pension and invested it myself in a SIPP account - trade with it | exbacrew
05/5/2010 15:50 | "I say get rid of everybody and start again" So can i take it from that statement exbacrew you are drawing your BA pension? | shauney2
05/5/2010 14:09 | The BA Pilots are overpaid too and when you bear in mind the impact that 3500 employees have on the Pension Fund - I say get rid of everybody and start again - BA pilots are on 000's more than their nearest competitors. I would also cull the top-heavy administrative staff at Waterside - 000's more employees than their nearest rivals. | exbacrew
05/5/2010 12:25 | BA needs to find some way of getting rid of these over-paid CC and it may be necessary to go into 'administration' to achieve this. The Company is just not competitive at present and to survive it must reduce costs. BA just have to win this dispute, there is no alternative. | selborne_edge
05/5/2010 11:13 | Better idea - form a new BAY holding company in USA/or redomicile existing holding company - exchange new shares for existing shares - if trouble persists seek Chapter 11 reorganisation. Why not, it is an international airline. | alphorn
05/5/2010 10:43 | BA need a boardroom shake-up or they are doomed. | drewz
05/5/2010 09:37 | It could be possible for BAY to go into administration and then be taken over by newBAY with completely new contracts and pension arrangements. The US Chapter 11 is neater but slate cleaning (UK version) is possible if the backers are there. (From memory a US company recently did that to its UK subsidiary that had crippling pension deficits). Another strike could well sink BAY. | alphorn
05/5/2010 09:31 | Old Giggleswickian - the Union ballot closes on Thursday 6th - expect strike dates to be announced Friday as there will be another huge majority in favour of rejecting the BA proposal - there is simply no end in sight for this dispute and Walsh needs to get it sorted (which he could have done quite easily) | exbacrew
05/5/2010 09:21 | Share price starting to look more realistic; hope to exit my positions soon. Held my view from the 240's despite the bullish posts. Where is AM btw? | alphorn
05/5/2010 09:11 | Oohhhhh what a start to the day - Maxi old boy, its nearer 160 than 260 now LOL | exbacrew
05/5/2010 08:49 | the 1's on the way | cat100
05/5/2010 08:36 | Maximillian also said two weeks ago that the cabin staff dispute had been resolved and that there would be an announcement to that effect after the close. Being wrong is one thing but that is naughty. Ian. | old giggleswickian
05/5/2010 07:52 | Ha ha ha - MAXIMILLIAN1 - you said that on the 26th April as well "No pull backs today ...we go all the way to 246...and on and up" Well I suppose a 50/50 guess is as good as any mate ;-) | exbacrew
05/5/2010 07:21 | Wrong....take off.... approaching | maximillian1
04/5/2010 23:37 | spob, Would that be in H1 or H2? Ian. | old giggleswickian
04/5/2010 20:54 | i read somewhere, BAY might break even around 2025 BUY BUY BUY | spob
04/5/2010 19:17 | 260????? Be nearer 160 soon lol | exbacrew |
