BASSA must quite simply smash Walsh into next week - or no-one's contract of employment is worth the paper it is written on.

I think Willie Walshe might well become the 'Micheal O'Leary' of BA.... and many will admire him for the stance he is taking to streamline the business, but I don't know if traders will want to be in BAY while it's being sorted - so it may well drop initially.. ...

After what I saw on TV my admiration for willie has sky rocketed. Unite and Bassa together with its members should leave this island for good. They are not decent members as Woodley and simpson keep saying - they are parasites and the airline is better off without such people. These are only a small group of militants spoiling it for hundreds of other decent crew members. How can Acas or Bassa leave Willie in the middle of layabouts and good for nothings in the building. Willie you are not alone - well done for standing up to them.

Some one must have confidence in BA to purchase 617,830 shares. Even if this was a short closing, it's still a vote of confidence.

Can we really imagine BA closing up - its an institution. I know they say, 'never too big to fail', but all our stalwart British companies are gradually one by one disappearing, or being taken over by foreigners. Surely, we should have our own airline? Britain was there right at the start of the airline industry. It just doesn't seem right.

Come on union people, stop thinking about your fat salaries, and help save our Great British brand.

I wish Willie Walsh success, in dealing with the stupid BA staff who go
on strike, when they know they wud loose their perks, for doing so. They
do not deserve employment.
Look at their reaction when the result of the injunction was announced
yesterday - they looked like stupid children.
Replace them with people who are proud to work for BA.

Looks like a good entry point back to 180p support, strikes will be resolved soon, cost saving balance out decline in revenues, the merger with Iberia will bear fruits over the coming years. Ideal entry point for an initial stake build here imho. Good trading share over the past months, have been both long/short a few times.

We can always dream that the cabin crew will understand what a competitive market BA is in but they never will until BA joins all those BRITISH companies of which we were very proud but no longer exist.

'receive an additional J20'

Is that a drink?

Just sack them.

If unite think it is easy to run an airline then they should get funding and compete with BA.

Looks like this dispute has taken its toll on Willie. He didn't look good on BBC breakfast.
He got a grilling from the interviewer at the end pity its not shown in its entirety

exbacrew
Don't know if this just the rumour mill but i was told by someone within BA that part of the original offer was for all cabin crew to receive an additional J20?

If the cabin crew hate BA so much why don't they just leave and join an airline run by a lovely cuddly boss like Branson or O'Leary. On second thoughts...

Hi exbacrew,

just your points -

1. They need to for the company to become cost effective & compete with similar co.'s

2. See above

3. See above

4. The only 'punishment'as you state is the loss of their staff travel date of joining - they still get their staff travel but they don't get on ahead of any of the cabin crew that actually went to work - very fair IMO & they are lucky at all to get any form of travel concession back!

5. See point 1.

This is the act of a CEO who is sorting out the problem within the bounds of employment law I imagine!
I'm sure Willie would love to just sack the strikers & pay them off at an employment tribunal & move on but although I'd back that action, he has got to be seen to be fair & IMO, he is being more than fair!

wow. Sad day for BA again. I said long ago that the management need to compromise for what I can see the damage is increasing. the differences in positions werent that big, but image is important it seems?! what a waste of value.
i avoid flying BA wherever i can.

i sadly closed my short a while ago but the same reasons i made then are relevant now i believe.

good luck to all.
