07/5/2021 09:05 | IMHO, given BOTB have provided a y/e TS for the last three years, not doing so this year would not be great. Its a very routine and professional thing to do. The other TS's that have been issued recently have been forced by circumstance, e.g. by being ahead of expectations, so were a market obligation. There was an ad-hoc TS on 17-Mar-20 vs one this year on 24-Feb-21. So no reason at all for this to stop a routine y/e TS All IMHO. | shanklin
07/5/2021 07:20 | On reflection, I'm not so sure that we'll get a May trading update as announcements which included comments of strong trading were made in Jan/Feb and March... How many times are management expected to say the same thing?? I think it would be reasonable if we heard nothing until the annual results in June...Unless that is they have to announce a date for those results, in which case an update might be included. | peart
06/5/2021 19:39 | Nothing on android Google play store. I think the results email is a good driver anyway, and simply directs you to the latest winner, how close you were, any discount won, and options for your next entry. | 3ootuk

02/5/2021 21:11 | That is very true, if you never take a risk you'll never make any money. ie currently risk free is in the bank up to £85000 and in Government debt, both of which will lose you money long term when inflation is factored in. | peart
02/5/2021 20:28 | Put you right off gambling, but here on advfn? ;) The biggest risk in life, is to avoid risk. | farnesbarnes

02/5/2021 07:23 | I'm sure BOTB and the like are regulated to an extent. However, I heard a story just the other day about a young man, who I knew, that was on a good path in life but got into difficulties and changed direction. Apparently he would get his wages on Thursday and then blow the lot that day at the bookies - just one of his problems. A sad tale that we've no doubt all heard before... The relevance to that here is, that without an outright ban (which drives gambling/gaming dangerously underground and denies the exchequer funds), some people will always get into difficulties and if they put more regulation in, will get around. Are the bookies not well regulated?? People have freedom and some players/gamblers will sadly get in a mess due to this. Some people will play these games sensibly. The state cannot control and make sensible choices for each of its 68 million people... I believe that management will have a handle on this and if extra regulation comes in they will make adjustments. What that regulation might be, if it comes, and what impact it may have on the business, I have no idea. The business is still very small - Is it really worthy of some big investigation as its damaging of so many people across the nation? (well world as they do sell globally, albeit in a small way) - I would question that. | peart
01/5/2021 23:09 | with institutions here now may be they can be more transparent in the future It does beg a question.. If the directors were happy to sell a massive wedge of stock at 2400 it does seem to me that if a buyer in the formal sale process had offered around that the board may well have said yes back to the age old question of what put buyers off paying enough and i do wonder if the poison pill could be regulation. the growth and everything looks great so it has to be something major and not obvious | solooiler
01/5/2021 22:52 | It would be interesting to see a histogram of spend levels. It would show:- Whether any people enter the max 75 times? The majority of entries are up to £xxx for the weekend draw. I believe the National Lottery limits money transfers in to £350 per week. It would show how much that would affect BOTB? Would those players exceeding that move to another site if BOTB did come under tighter regulation? The Board obviously have that data, and any proposed regulation would be dealt with. | 3ootuk

01/5/2021 14:00 | Being brought under any Gaming Act would serve to legitimise the company as the regulators would be required to screen out obviously dodgy companies. Though would the Company then move base to somewhere like Gibraltar where some laws are more friendly, or use regulation as highlighting being uniquely British, paying taxes, and making charitable donations. | 3ootuk
30/4/2021 14:24 | You can never say for certain but I suspect you'll be ok with your investment kfr20. Good luck. | peart
30/4/2021 13:31 | I'll own up to having taken a position here around £35 a number of weeks ago. At least it's now starting to look a little better here as price is starting to tick up. This is a long term position tucked away in an ISA, so not too taken in by intraday movements, noise, etc. | kfr20 |
