Russian Air Defenses Shot Down Over 80 Ukrainian Drones Overnight (Videos)

Russian air defenses foiled two Ukrainian attacks on Russian territories over the night of November 19 and 20, intercepting over 80 drones.

In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense said 42 drones were shot down over six different regions just before midnight. 32 drones were destroyed over the Bryansk region, five over the Smolensk region, two over the Moscow region, and one over each of the regions of Kursk, Oryol, and Rostov, according to the ministry.

Later after midnight, at least 44 additional drones were intercepted by Russian air defenses, the ministry said in a separate statement.

The ministry stated that 20 drones were destroyed over the Novgorod region, five over Kursk, four over Oryol, three over each of the regions of Belgorod, Tula and Tver, as well as two drones over each of the regions of Bryansk, Moscow and Smolensk.

In Belgorod, regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that falling debris from the interceptions had damaged an industrial plant, infrastructure sites and power lines in the town of Alekseyevka close to the border with Ukraine.

Electricity was temporarily cut to some districts and emergency crews were on site repairing damage, according to the governor, who didn’t report any casualties.

The Voronezh region, which is also located on the border with Ukraine, was also attacked by drones. Regional Governor Aleksandr Gusev said that a drone struck a plant producing “strictly civilian” goods, triggering a fire. Staff were evacuated and there were no injuries, he noted.

The large-scale drone attacks came less than 24 hours after Ukraine targeted Russian territories, namely Kursk, with American-made MGM-140 ATACMS with the approval of the Biden administration. The missiles were mostly intercepted and no casualties were reported, but still the attack was a major escalation by the Kiev regime.

The Russian response to the latest Ukrainian attack will likely be fearsome, with reports suggesting that a massive strike could be launched against Ukraine as early as today.

The head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, has published a video to confirm that he had visited the towns of Kupyansk and Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk), which are close to fall under Russian control.

On November 18, the Ukrainian politician Volodymyr Zelensky posted on his personal page a video in which he allegedly “inspects” troops in the frontline cities of Kupyansk and Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) trying to inspire the Ukrainian military to hold firmly the defense and, under favorable conditions, even take counteroffensive actions.

Some time after the publication, it became clear that the idea might be good, but it no longer worked. The Ukrainian military, learning from their own bitter experience, see the reverse analogy: once Zelensky arrives, the cities surrender (like it happened before with Artyomovsk (former Bakhmut) and Avdeevka).

Russian troops continue to move towards Pokrovsk capturing one Ukrainian stronghold after another. Currently, they are rapidly expanding their zone of control near Yurievka. Battles are ongoing in Lysivka and approach the outskirts of Mirnograd.

The Russian tactics do not change: the troops are moving westward toward Pokrovsk, following the dominant heights along the railroad line and advancing in different directions on a wide front. The advancing Russian forces maintain their initiative because in the sky and on the ground. Ukrainian military positions are leveled with the ground even before the assault begins.

Zelensky’s trips to the frontlines are farewell visits. His alleged journey to Pokrovsk and Kupyansk is likely to become another black mark for the Ukrainian garrisons, who will be forced to resist on their streets to the last soldier.

However, the very authenticity of the footage raised doubts. There were too many coincidences found when comparing Zelensky’s speech in Kupyansk to the video filmed in Avdeevka a year ago. Zelensky’s regime is famous for fakes it is spreading by the dozen. In the strongest wind, his hair remained motionless. No footage at all confirmed his visit to Pokrovsk.

His propaganda has lost all public trust and has become particularly careless about the content it creates.

The battle for truth is ongoing, but it is hardly important now where exactly the head of the Kiev regime recorded his message. What is crucial is how many senselessly lost lives on both sides of the conflict Zelensky’s self- PR on bones will cost.

Inflation jump likely to mean slower interest rate cuts


Inflation rose to 2.3% per cent in the year to October which is likely to slow the pace of interest rate cuts.

The growth in prices from 1.7% in September is the highest jump for more than two years and puts the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) measure above the Bank of England’s 2% target.

Economists had forecast an increase as a result of the rise in the Ofgem energy price cap in October.

Services inflation, which includes hospitality costs and air fares, is at 5% (up from 4.9%).

The headline figure is above economists’ predictions of 2.2% and will feed into the Bank of England’s next interest rate meeting on 19 December.

Overview Of Russian Strikes In Ukraine On November 19, 2024

On the night of November 19, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched another combimed attack on Ukrainian rear infrastructure. While Ukrainian air defense does not stop killing civilians, Russian drones and missiles are pounding military and energy facilities throughout the country. Kiev continues blaming Russian forces for the alleged attacks on civilian infrastructure.

At night, explosions thundered in different Ukrainian regions, including in the Kyiv, Kirovograd, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporozhie, Cherkassy regions.

The most massive strikes targeted the industrial city of Zaporozhie. One of the targets damaged by Russian drones was the local Pravoberezhna-150 energy station. As a result of the attack energy transformers, switchgears and power lines were heavily damaged. A large fire broke out in the area. The damage posed a threat to the energy supply to the entire region and increased pressure on neighboring power grid facilities, while the entire energy system of the country is critically overloaded.

Russian strikes also damaged the Ozernoye military airfield in the Zhytomir region, operation of which was disrupted.

Russian drones and missiles are constantly pounding Ukrainian military positions in the border Sumy region. The last night was not an exception. The Armed Forces of Ukraine across the region were attacked by Russian drones, missiles and heavy bombs, while civilian facilities were again struck by the air defense forces of Ukraine in the towns.

As a result of the failed operation of Ukrainian air defense, the medical college was partially destroyed in the town of Glukhov. According to local reports, Ukrainian EW means deviated Russian drone from its course and it struck the building. There are civilian casualties. LINK

According to unconfirmed reports, Russian strikes destroyed targets in the Kirovograd region, in the city of Kropivnitsky and in the town of Svitlovodsk, where the Kremenchugskaya HPP is located. The HPP was damaged as a result of the recent Russian massive attack and stopped its operation.

Strikes were reported across the Kharkiv region, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine accumulated large military reserves. In particular, Russian strikes destroyed targets in the areas of Dergachi and Lyubotin.

The intensity of Russian strikes remains high. Despite the multi billion military supplies from NATO, Ukrainian air defense fails to repel the attacks but only destroys civilian infrastructure and increases civilian losses across the country. After the Armed Forces of Ukraine were allowed to launch strikes with the Western long-range missiles on the Russian territory, the Russian military is expected to launch more devastating attacks on Ukrainian rear military and energy infrastructure in the coming days.
