Zimbabwe to launch new currency to counter hyperinflation




HARARE (Thomson Financial) - The governor of the central bank of Zimbabwe
has unveiled a new currency for the country, which should be introduced by the
end of this year to counter the shortage of banknotes caused by hyperinflation.
Governor Gideon Gono told a press briefing that one, two or three zeros
would be removed from the currency, without giving more details on the amount of
the devaluation.
He added the central bank has put in place all the necessary equipment to
enable a rapid changeover to the new currency.
Inflation in Zimbabwe is currently close to 8,000 pct. The government has
failed to date in its attempts to curb the soaring inflation rate.

rather watch paint dry than that shower of premadonas prancing around not able to last 90 mins of running and the occasional split nail..........how much is that team worth on paper????? £300m+????

and people pay hard earnt to watch that shower leave it to the last game to qualify out of the easiest group bar none...............best if they don't qualify.........save the embaressment of being knocked out early next year..........

lol mr.........yep, when the stock market rises it's due to energy stocks rising on oil prices rising and when it falls it's due to oil prices rising.................

anyone watching autonomy.........another stock on my must have list when this all sorts itself out..............

oh and re bloomberg.............it'sgetting more and more depressing............shame cnbc hasn't got afree live internet feed........much more exciting (as much as finance can get) ...........must be produced by the producers or WWF or something............

FYI, I do not actually CARE about charting. It is as acccurate as spinning a coin ie: 50% coorect.

I suggest that you read a book - on interpreting company accounts.

morning all...........I see the muppets are out.......shoting this down to 500.......lol........should have shorted it from the top, not the bottom.......muppet.............

yep, picking stocks this month you may as well just blindgfold yourself and stab the FT.............nothing going to the normal rules..............in these cullnig cases I just remind myself that fundamentaly sound stocks will ride this out and emerge stronger at the other end.............

this is about the same size drop as in august about 23%, will it respond the same ??? if so dec could be a cracking month

agree on a bid being more likely now ady at this price...

morning all,

markets in a mess, i am out of all investment holdings at the moment,
just some shorts running & doing well today,

however AXO is a super company & i would'nt risk shorting this one,
its the sort of comany that could get a bid at any second especialy at these higher value levels

watching from the side lines for now
