U.S. Housing Starts Unexpectedly Climb in October (Update2)

By Bob Willis

Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Housing starts in the U.S. unexpectedly rose in October as a jump in work on condominium projects outstripped the weakest construction of single-family homes in 16 years.

Builders broke ground on 1.229 million homes at an annual rate last month, up 3 percent from September, the Commerce Department said in Washington today. Construction of single- family homes fell 7.3 percent to the lowest since October 1991. Multi-family home building surged 44 percent.

UK Nov manufacturing order book rebounds to +8 from minus 6 in Oct - CBI

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - UK manufacturers saw their order books
unexpectedly rebound in November from a month earlier, a leading business lobby
group said today.
In its monthly industrial survey, the Confederation of British Industry
revealed the total new order book balance rose to +8 pct, up from minus 6 in
October.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial News had predicted a minus 8 pct
balance.
Manufacturing output volume balance continued to decrease in November, to +9
pct from +10 in October.
Elsewhere, average prices increased to +21 pct from +14 in October. This is
the highest since May.
On the export front, the order book balance improved to minus 4 pct in
November, from minus 9 pct in the previous month.

morning all.........morning tbo.......2 posts in a month........carefull there.....lol.............I think that's how everyone read it yesterday..........glad to see that normal business is booming despite the news just being dominated by one thing............

I suppose it's easy to increase market share quickly and quietly when your starting off from 1-2% of the market............much much easier to double your share (or more) from these levels than say when your at 15% market share..........

anyhow...........good news from Hewlett Packard last night..........beating the street again...........and I hear that Xerox as to resume divi payments............techs doing very well still then............

European Stocks Rebound; Infineon, Sainsbury, Air Berlin Rise

By Marco Bertacche

Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- European stocks advanced for the first time in four days on speculation yesterday's decline to a three-month low was overdone, given the outlook for corporate profits.

Infineon Technologies AG paced gains by technology shares after Hewlett-Packard Co. of the U.S. forecast sales and profit that beat analysts' estimates. J Sainsbury Plc, the U.K.'s third- largest supermarket chain, rose after Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. recommended buying the stock following its retreat this month. Air Berlin Plc, the region's third-biggest discount airline, climbed on better-than-expected earnings.

The Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index added 0.8 percent to 357.58 as of 8:05 a.m. in London. The Stoxx 50 gained 0.7 percent, and the Euro Stoxx 50, a measure for the euro region, increased 0.8 percent.

The Stoxx 600 has retreated 7.9 percent this month on increasing concern that losses tied to U.S. subprime mortgages will spill over to the broader economy.

``You have had a very, very bad day yesterday,'' said Andy Lynch, who helps manage about $10 billion at Schroder Investment Management in London. ``Some people sold things down yesterday and are looking to buy them back today.''

The relative strength index on the Stoxx 600 closed yesterday at 26.5. A reading below 30 may indicate the index is poised to rise, according to technical analysts.

The U.S. Federal Reserve is scheduled to issue minutes from its Oct. 31 meeting today after the close of European trading.

``It is now looking as if the selloff may have been a little overdone,'' said Matt Buckland, a trader at CMC Markets in London. ``Any suggestion that further rate cuts from the Federal Reserve are imminent may see equity markets buoyed.''

Nothing to do with charts. AXO has been oversold by those wishing to shore up positions in financials. MMs are taking advantage. When the selling stops the price will be back in the 8+ area.
