Ubs Ag M&A activities set to continue despite credit crunch - UBS research




ZURICH (Thomson Financial) - Merger and acquisition activities are expected
to remain buoyant, with the financial and materials industries having the
greatest potential for such consolidations in the coming years, according to a
research by UBS AG.
The research noted that M&A activities reached a new record this year, but
questions regarding the potential for such deals has arisen since the credit
crisis.
However, it noted that while the sub-prime lending crisis is taking a toll
on leveraged buyouts, it will do little to dampen prospects for corporate
strategic deals.
The private equity industry may simply need to reduce its dependence on
leveraged buyouts in order to do deals.
It could move towards an increased focus on minority investment positions,
smaller acquisition targets and more specialized buyouts of emerging market
companies.
In addition, investments by sovereign wealth funds into the private equity
industry may facilitate additional takeovers.

due to the retracement of the share price I'm half expecting soon for KBC to change their stance from hold to buy btw..........that'll then make 5 brokers on buy.............

morning all............wow there's a turn up indeed for Barclays.......headline news on the radio........less than expected write off............yes well done one all all that got them...........looks like a bit of profit taking from those under 500, holding well now in the 540's.......talk of potential move back up now the news is out on the barc board I see.............

looks better here too..........1st selling mm is 765 then a jump to 774.............and PMUR the house broker has already moved up to 755 be the leading buying mm...............

anyone up for a quiet day??????????????

well there you go mr...........US up after 5pm.............looks like keeping a tight range so should be ok for tomorrow..........looks like the UK takes advantage of Axon in the morning, grabbing the bargin created by the US seemingly causing a drop in the afternoon..........

great if you've the time to trade it.............sadly not me............don't mind the bargin hunting bit though............

cheers sm.................strong support now at 750...........5 mms are there and the book rebuilding.............looks like the sell orders have been satisified judging now by the lack of them compared to earlier.............

we've been through worse mr.............

yes.........happy days indeed for the mms again..............and no doubt they'll want a replay of late August early September when they're good and ready..........

Barc is 2 steps forward and 1 back at the moment. Sentiment is not good in the sector. I expect £6.50 by December though.

I still do not see how AXO fell below 8 mark. MMs are getting despeate for stock? I bet they got some and are going to make a nice profit on it.
