Are we bouncing off an ascending trend line in place since the lows of March 20th?

Essential Investor

I am sure she would like to, but I don't think she has that luxury.
She will have to play the cards she has been dealt not the ones she would have liked!!
After all, the dividend cut I suggest would mean she is taking back £350m PER ANNUM from Shareholders.

For years and years Aviva has been a dull dull stock.
The Market would certainly not take on Trust any growth story from a new CEO especially one unproven in the public arena.
Although it is not ABs fault, she will bear the cross of the failures of several of her predecessors.

Personally I do not believe in this case, that lower dividend would lead to higher growth.
Aviva is significantly profitable and has substantial assets.
All they have to do is use the Assets a lot lot better
.......or give the cash back to the shareholders

Rob, you don't think the new CEO will go for a higher growth, lower dividend
business?.

Not a bad guess 1robbob

spud I think you are correct!!

My guess is:
1) a Final payment of 6.5p in respect of 2019 making a total of 22p for the year
This would represent a cut of 28.8% on the previously announced Dividends for 2019
AND at the same time
2) An Interim of 11p in respect of 2020 to be followed by a Final of 11p

Both 1 and 2 to be paid in December

3) For 2021....Maintaining the 2020 payout with 4 quarterly dividends of 5.5p each and the possibility of Special Divs on disposals

This Dividend would be well covered by earnings
and the cost to the Solvency Ratio of the entire 29.5p of Divs for the balance of 2019 and ALL of 2020 guestimated at circa 10%

Total Annual Dividends of 22p at a yield of 7% = a share price of 314P (6% = 366p)

We will see very shortly
QED !!!!

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the dividends for the trading years of 2019 and 2020

For 2019 an Interim of 9.5p was paid and a Final of 21.4p was announced, but so far only 6p of this dividend will have been paid by the end of September as a 'second interim dividend'.
So the Announced dividend for the full year of 2019 was 30.9p of which only 15.5p will have been paid by the end of September...leaving 15.4p not paid AS YET!!

As for 2020, thus far no dividends have been announced or paid. Leaving a shortfall of
9.5p (2019 Interim) against 2019 at the Interim Stage

The total income shortfall for 2019 and 2020 is therefore 24.9 per per share

To prevent further confusion...I would suggest to AB that she announces in early Q4 whatever remainder of the 2019 Final is to be paid AND the 2020 Interim; both to be paid in December. The Final can then be announced as usual with the 2020 Final Results.

It will be very interesting to see how far into Q4 it will be before AB announces the dividend policy for both the delayed 2019 Final and the Future Dividends. Hopefully sooner rather than later?

Aviva does not usually buck the wider UKX trend, unless there was significant
stock specific news.

So any view on Aviva should take account of where you see the UKX heading.
