Here’s hoping this is correct. Despite the clear logic to doing something with the consortium of businesses it’s not clear to me what’s optimal.

My sense having looked at them and spoken to some AV execs is that the European businesses should be high up the list for the chop.

They are risky and distracting and managing multiple post Brexit regulators sounds like it will take a disproportionate amount of time relative to the profit. No idea who would be interested in these.

I don’t really have a view on Canada but it seems a curious thing to have.

Selling Asia looks more straightforward and anyway it’s not really scale.

So for me I would be quite happy if they kept uk life and non life as both are good businesses with solid , top 3 footprint.

There is so much more to go for in U.K. life with dB derisking and I think wba has highlighted lots to go for on combined ratio if you read across from direct line.

Aviva investors looks sensible but the digital proposition looks subscale and rubbish anyway.

It’s not many execs that vote for a slimmed down version but I think a U.K. focussed composite is the route to max value.

Press seems to suggest a more radical approach lies ahead, and it’s MTs wife that is unfortunately ill. Most say similar things, possible break up or sell off

I started this thread by popular request due to the volume of to55ers on the other one. This one is moderated, the other is a free-for-all. spud

We seem to have two threads running at the same time Aviva and Aviva Plc .

Can we post just on one , would be simpler for all and we won’t miss posts .

Just asking

Well the prefs have put in quite a rise up which actually started last week.
Why would that be. Two thoughts cross my mind: less chance of a rework of buying the prefs back at par fiasco, and, maybe a lean towards buying them back in the market.

I’d agree, more outsider than insider. Let’s give her a chance, 12 months maybe longer in these exceptional times.

I would argue that she is hardly an insider having only been there as a non-exec since January.

Why don’t Board just come out say it ‘we screwed up sacking Wilson’

hard to believe that shareholders would be any worse off.

Why don’t Board just come out say it ‘we screwed up hiring Tulloch’

It would appear they started looking for someone as soon as they hired Tulloch

We have been telling them that for a year

from the telegraph:

"George Culmer, who was appointed as Aviva’s chairman in May, thanked Mr Tulloch for his work at Aviva since joining in 1992 and said the board was saddened by the personal reasons behind his departure but had been able to run an extensive recruitment process. "

blimey. Remember the excuses when it took them an age to find a replacement for Mark Wilson, 'scour the earth' type stuff?

Well now one exec has gone and been replaced over the course of a weekend.

Astonishing governance. How easily process has been discarded.
