And dare I say, early annuity terminations...'If you died after two years of annuity payments the annuity would continue to be paid for the next three years. At the end of the annuity guarantee period death results in no further payments. If you buy an annuity without a guaranteed period, the annuity income stops on your death.'spud

Travel insurance.

You won’t be surprised but you are not covered for a lot of things you think you may be covered for. I asked as I was stuck in USA. with flight cancelled.

You can’t claim for car hire, hotel, food , tickets to return, refund of unused part of ticket. That’s all down to Airlines .
You can’t claim for hotels etc. If you are on lockdown .

You can only claim if you HAVE caught the virus for treatment and repatriation

Hardly any cars , busses , lorries or taxis been used on our streets . So claims will be less.
Everyone at home so no burglaries .
Factories shut so no claims there for staff.

Business interruption claims ?

Also you can’t skimp on insurance. Cars mandatory ,so is homes if you have mortgage. Businesses mandatory for consumer and staff protection , claims on all three areas would have dropped

cjac39,

I presume that 'rt1' is a preference share but I can't find it. Is that the right code you gave there?

EDIT: Ah, just figured 'RT1' is a Restricted Tier 1 bond, of course it's a bond, I missed the redemption date you mentioned, bit of a giveaway it was a bond!

PS: I bought some RAVP cumulative perpetual prefs the other day, 12% at 87p. That's a yield of 13.8%! Now maybe that's not as ridiculous as it sounds as they are (a) Russian and (b) in warehouse property, so maybe a bit risky ;0)

thats a muppet comment. why dont you wait out on the sidelines until cure is found, everyone is back to work, all is back to normal and then invest you hero. take some risk, speculate uk isnt going to finish etc and you make money in long term. case in point i bought some just rt1 today at 87%. ridiculous.

I don’t see markets improving unless a cure is found for the virus. Otherwise it’ll be de ja vue come next winter.

Never thought I would hope for a Boris recovery, but even Porky Blunders is preferable to the thought of Raab in charge. I am surprised Aviva has not recovered more and continue to hold, but hope a few noted my comments on Sabre and had a dip. I am now looking at Hastings (as a nearly pure motor play which is yet to significantly recover) but am conflicted as I know their management, who are a bunch of luvvie salesmen who will never display underwriting discipline. But if this continues for long that will be less of an issue.

Just a heads up.

Just tried calling Aviva to move investments, and office closed.

Can't trade online... no facility.

Not really what one would expect.

I can imagine a lot of disgruntled savers.

Dow up 6%, ftse down 4% = 10% divergence. That wasn't in the script! Inexplicable!!

It's lagged a bit compared to LGEN and PHX so think it has some way to go to catch up!

I'm holding and think this would make a good recovery play. Great time to add if you can ride out some short-term volatility.
