Aviva are not raising 7 billion euros. They have had a euro note programme totalling 7 billion euros since at least 2018 (it may be 2017) and the latest just relates to the latest phase of this long standing programme. The total programme just provides them with sensible access to financial instruments which count for tier 2 and tier 2 capital for regulatory measures.

LOL. In your dreams. Nobody runs a Div that high for long.

Price either adjusts to revert Div towards market mean average (and that ain't happneing) or Div gets cut.

Have a guess what will happen here - clue is in the sentence above.

Preservation of capital is the key here, not income. More and more forced selling to meet margins and it becomes self-perpetuating. Even drip feeding in is now a high risk strategy. What an odd world we are now living in.

This is GCSE stuff -open ended funds are often unsuitable for what can be illiquid assets, particularly at times of volatility. There are so many UK listed REITS to choose from.

Yawn, another Remoaner.

We do not need to be in a political union subservient to a foreign bureaucracy to be able to help each other in moments of crisis.

A couple of points firstly, El- Erian and other influential market gurus have said that there will come a point we’re valuations become so compelling in certain stocks you just have to buy them.I think we’re certainly getting there here. He reckons along with others that the markets will react like a coiled spring and make a v shaped recovery but economies will be on a long L shape. Secondly and rather compelling for the conspiracy theorist is that they see the world as being a very different place after the virus! The de globalisation of economies the need to vastly cut the reliance on Chinese supply chains, consumption and protectionism will emerge as key drivers. The real backdrop to this though is the very real threats now posed by climate change, technology, cyber space and ageing populations.

Interesting that Aviva put out a missive listing the adverse effects of the pandemic on their business without mentioning the benefits. Far lower motor claims (on both private and fleet business) due to traffic reductions. Increased mortality on life offset by reduced pension liabilities. Reduced public and employee liability claims as business activity reduces. Of course the negatives outweigh the positives for Aviva, but a company announcement should not be a partial picture. I have just topped up at 232 and am happy to hold for years.

Exactly. Treat it as an opportunity. It's clearly being shorted, at some point it will be unwound

I guess if the business is in robust health, anyone buying now will be laughing in 12-18 months time. Treat it as an opportunity (as per RDSB). spud
