06/8/2011 10:41 | Unlikely superg, Surfbeam Technology is owned by Viasat, who already seem to have strong working ties with Tooway. | gorvachof

06/8/2011 10:05 | Solar disturbance, powerful magnetic bursts??. I didn't notice and meltdown on sky TV so I presume. Immarasat is down on a different supply/demand to Avanti as isn't comparable. Although I note they mention Vsat as a competitor that is taking their share. Vsat have surfbeam technology which seems to create very goos performance and overcomes some sat BB issues. I see Eutel are using it. Does anyone know if Avanti are using, or are going to use this technology? | ![]() superg1
06/8/2011 09:41 | Looks like the "the worlds going to end" brigade are back!! Weatherman...these have been discussed over and over again when all the shorters were frequenting the board. Were all doomed! | ![]() jonnib

05/8/2011 23:51 | Had a little chat with a chap in the Army today, some kind of Comms Engineer. Never heard of Avanti or Hylas 1, although his thoughts on bandwith were that the Military are always looking for new lines of coms etc and are likely to pay big bucks for such. I certainly agree that its likely to be less cost sensitive than the consumer markets, which look rather cut price at present! On another note, Good luck all in these chaotic markets. | gorvachof

05/8/2011 16:16 | Does anyone else worry about this ? The sun is coming up to solar maximum in 2013. Solar radiation storms can damaging satellites. | ![]() weatherman
05/8/2011 11:26 | In case those here have not noticed, Inmarsat dropped 25% yesterday, citing pricing pressure on its satellite business. However, if I read it correctly, it is because the likes of Avanti are moving the mobile world from telephone to internet communications. Nigel Martin | ![]() gnnmartin
05/8/2011 09:34 | Gary ??????????????? I was suspicious when it was in the 700's that it was overpriced, brokers were falling out with Avanti and I thought it would fall. I thought the hype to buy in the 700's as it would be over £10 shortly was dreamland. Those prices left it vulnerable as no matter what the prospects are, if the cash isn't coming in it's at risk. It fell and continued to fall, I was right on the over priced for it's current circs situation. Sure enough shorters moved in and accelerated the issue. I have been guarded over contracts and the timeframe for Hylas 2. It seems Avanti are quite late with interims (Oct) so I thought it may be some time before clarity appeared. But with that RNS they are declaring all is OK and ahead of what they would expect. That is good. I remember the fingernail biting displayed here on the launch of Hyals 1, will it go pop, will boosters fail etc etc. there was clearly euphoria (and rightly so) once the launch was over. Next one is Hylas 2. Yes it looks on track, but the big issue is will it get up there with no issues. The odds are hugely in favour that it will. If the share is going to be £25 in the furture then Hylas 2 and 3 need to be up there and working with a market demand to back it up. In the months before Hylas 2 launch it seems a dead cert to me to rise significantly. Short term the market is in melt down. October is just a couple of months away now and is 6 months before the launch of Hylas 2. So yes with Hylas 2 up there this price seems good. But I don't see any near term rush to get in. The interims or trading trends pre interims will be a good guide. Good luck all | ![]() superg1
05/8/2011 09:31 | Anyone who has their eyes open knows that the price of most stocks at the moment has no bearing on it's true value or potential but purely a result of Market fear and sell off. Great time for those in cash not just for AVN of course. Very sad for anyone who has to sell at the moment. | ![]() yorgi
05/8/2011 09:15 | Red hot penny still very bullish on Avanti! | ![]() pojscott
05/8/2011 09:15 | Sugerg1, it's not possible to take anything you say seriously. For over 6 months now you have been saying that there is a fundamental problem with AVN which has been driving down the share price and which was unknown to PIs. So where is the 'smoking gun'? Now you are recommending it as a great buying opportunity, unbelievable! | garymott

05/8/2011 08:55 | Hi folks first time post from me, but have to admit I have been lurking for quite some time enjoying the banter and, of course, the informative comment. My position is stupidly long and currently stupidly down, but I have used the carnage of this morning to buy another 1000. It is not money that I cannot afford to lose, but these prices are silly. A stitch in time...... | ![]() salamanda74
05/8/2011 07:56 | From my own very basic TA i was pretty sure that AVN was set up for a good rise yesterday , considering the carnage in the markets AVN did well and if yesterday had been a "normal" day we could have seen the start of the AVN turnaround. | colva |
