05/11/2010 00:15 | when i talk to people about avanti, i realise my self how great an investment we have here, one month, one year, either way were all ahead of the game here :) | sco77harris
04/11/2010 22:24 | this is a great post but it has to differentiate between company networks and the internet per se? any loss of connectivity within and among businesses would scare 99% of them and after a very short time I'm sure! I have the feeling that what Avanti have and can offer is not yet understood or properly valued, I'm sure the 2400p plus valuations are close and anticipating when the pennies start to drop! | chrissey
04/11/2010 15:34 | Internet connectivity missing from many disaster recovery plans Avanti Communications has released the results of a survey of 203 IT decision makers from the UK and worldwide. The survey found that, despite almost three quarters of respondents acknowledging the need for constant Internet access, over a quarter (30 percent) do not have Internet connectivity in the disaster recovery plan and a third have no back-up service. Other highlights: * 72 percent felt that the Internet had to always be available for them for fear of reputation, revenue and productivity damage; * 33 percent were concerned that their organizations simply would not survive a working week without Internet connectivity; * 76 percent have already suffered a total Internet failure, with 30 percent suffering between 24 and 72 hours without connectivity; * Of those organizations that did have a back-up Internet connection, 69 percent have taken out contracts with the same ISP for both the primary and back-up connections, meaning there is no diversity of service a paramount requirement in all aspects of any disaster recovery plan. * Where a second Internet connection was installed, only a third were able to say that the service was as efficient as the primary connection, with most respondents claiming a slower connectivity speed and a quarter admitting to it being substantially less reliable. | share_shark

04/11/2010 12:17 | I would agree with you Jeffian. A couple of weeks ago or so it took a big dip during the day but soon shot up again.....I was lucky and managed to add on this dip, not at the bottom but lower than where we are now but I would not be at all surprised if we took off north any day now | yorgi
04/11/2010 11:30 | I'm not so sure, wendsworth. I was introduced to this share by a long term holder earlier in the year when it was over £5 and am kicking myself for not having got in at the time of the Placing. I got a bit greedy and kept lowering my 'buy' point, getting caught out by the subsequent strong recovery to over £6. I, too, saw it drifting lower up to the launch but, although off its £6+ peak, it seems pretty firmly fixed around these levels, so I took the plunge and dived in yesterday. At this point, it is, of course, a straight punt on the thing not falling over on the launchpad and then working properly when deployed (as evidenced by the pause in the chart), but waiting until those risks are removed is likely to result in missing any bounce arising from successful deployment. I do recognise, however, that the potential exists for a problem to arise which would knock the sp, so I haven't bet the house on it - yet. Anyway, I'm in, so I hope your fears of 550 pre-launch are unfounded! | jeffian
04/11/2010 10:23 | another we reason we are due for a rerating post launch, if you take into account the performance of the market, we have merely tracked if not under performed. | sco77harris
03/11/2010 19:44 | I see this in the 550s before launch date ...and then !!!!!!!!!!!! Just a realistic assessment of a long term holder. | wendsworth
03/11/2010 18:04 | a successful launch will definitely spur a move to the main market, a double whammy. j. | jonnyno1

03/11/2010 13:15 | I certainly concur on the takeover possibility if only based on the general view that avn is significantly undervalued but, as we have also noted, the launch and deployment will address some of that. good luck all holders | chrissey
03/11/2010 08:09 | On calculating risk it is always good to bear in mind how quickly, cash would flow into the coppers and in some cases it is many years before a company starts to hear the tills ringing. In Avanti's cases, if the launch is successful and is deployed then, as TW mentioned, AVN would start to benefit from the big bucks as early as December!. Do you think this will miss either the fund managers or bigger fish, watching closely?.A take over would not be out of the question either, would it?. Whatever, very good luck to all. | share_shark
03/11/2010 07:46 | Well chrissey that makes absolute sense to me - price rise on good news (not rumour in this case) i.e.more contracts, good launch and successful deployment. We optimists thought price would creep up more after launch date was confirmed followed by big hike after launch. The discussions here have brought reality to that view and while this is a really exciting share we must be detached.... still looking forward to launch though. Thanks to all here for info. | ib1905
02/11/2010 22:39 | One thing that last weeks satellite failure tells us is that we have two hurdles: the launch itself followed by the deployment once in orbital position, following testing, etc. it will be interesting to see how the price moves as, logically, we get an initial hike followed by a greater one once the satellite is functional and 100% ok. not sure everyone will see it that way. | chrissey
02/11/2010 21:02 | I personally believe launch will rebase the share price at a 7 pound minimum and with contracts announced a steady miove towards the 10 pounds mark. Which i think will be breached on further news of hylas 2s launch | sco77harris
02/11/2010 20:45 | Id be inclined to think that a successful launch followed by a succesful deployment of the satellite will send the share price into orbit!!!! | bongo bwana
