Rogk, AVN reported Hylas II service to be live on 10/10/12 and the Gateway in Cyprus operational on 07/11/12 and so why will there be no revenue in the results to 31/12/12? Small perhaps.

As you say Waterloo phone companies give kit away when people sign up for broadband contract and recoup it over the life of the contract so that is quite normal.

Lets hope the results next week prove him wrong. Quite a punt from him just before results, personally I sit on the other side of the trade.

On Filiago, not what was planned and I still don't understand why they ended up lending them in the first place, but as it's been written off, I can understand giving basic kit away to get customers (phone companies have been doing it for years). They might even surprise to the upside. Careful Simon.

"...I also shorted Avanti (AVN) at 250p. My reason is that it has been pointed out to me that its Filiago subsidiary (which you may recall was a failure on a stand alone basis and therefore taken under Avanti's wing out of desperation) is now giving its services and kit away for nowt or well over twenty months worth of sales through a waived selling price of the order of E500 for hardware and E99 for set-up costs. It's one thing to pile it high and sell it cheap but it is quite another to pile it high and sell it for nothing. I read somewhere that results are due next Tuesday. No doubt, they will be upbeat. They always are."

The above is from the AVN website. Spring 2014 is not very far away.

IF the update confirms:

- Spring 2014 still on track
- Main market listing this year
- Good progress on Hylas 2 and Hylas 3

We will be doing rather nicely.

I don't think they'll be disappointing at this price since they signalled that the sold revenue over time is a steepening curve and the market rapidly accounted for that. Also of interest will be cash flow as they signalled advance orders (cash received) which would not be taken as revenue until the service was delivered. We'll need to see the costs and I think it is important that they guide on full year numbers.

I do not see why the interims should disappoint. I expect a small improvement on last year's H2 adjusted for depreciation and interest.

Agree it would be good if AVN could address the queries raised recently re receivables quality and apparent vendor financing - it would cost little and do AVN no harm (?) to be a little more PI-friendly/forthcoming on legitimate questions about the company's performance....

Roll on the interims, I hope ;->!

Don't worry this doesn't involve Avanti. Just posting to show there are risks getting payload into orbit. Ours are up there thank god.

Yes, the graph does look as if it's bottomed out (please, God!), but I hope there is hard evidence of cash beginning to flow rather than just talk of 'Backlog'. The old salesman's mantra - "A sale isn't a sale until the cash is in the bank" - is definitely appropriate here and I think that is what has been behind recent share price action. The sats are up there now; you can only talk a good story for so long. Time to deliver.

i agree results will look poor but it's the update on growth of sales that will be the driver or not as the case maybe. certainly price is moving positively ahead of results.
