06/2/2012 15:37 | some of the "investors" who participated in the placing will no doubt be taking their small profits over the next few days if they haven't already. as I understand it there wasn't much of a discount so I presume the best part of the placement will be held for now. with any luck any post-placement selling should be cleared in a few days and we should start rising on the back of what otherwise was good news. only one minor concern. revenues have gone up sharply but so has cost of sales, and this has stopped us moving into profit. I'm not sure what cost of sales covers exactly in this context, but the hope must be that this is largely non-repeating costs in relation to gaining new contracts. hence I would hope that revenues continue to increase while these costs remain the same (- or even less !!!) | ![]() backmarker

06/2/2012 14:27 | 02/06/2012 14:23:45 - INTERVIEW: Avanti To Cherry Pick African Customers With 3rd Satellite LONDON (Dow Jones)--The launch of a third satellite, HYLAS 3, will give Avanti Communications PLC (AVN.LN) the ability to "cherry-pick" customers in Africa, according to the company's chief executive David Williams Monday. Avanti, which sells satellite data communications services to telecoms companies that use them to supply residential, enterprise and institutional users, said earlier Monday it has conditionally raised GBP73.8 million in a share placing to fully fund the cost of the design, construction and launch of HYLAS 3. "The satellite technology from HYLAS 3 is wonderful for emerging markets and gives us the flexibility to cherry-pick customers," William told Dow Jones in an interview. The company has already launched HYLAS 1, which covers Europe and HYLAS 2, which extends the company's coverage to the Middle East and Africa, is due to be launched in summer. HYLAS 3, which is expected to go into orbit in 2015, will increase Avanti's exposure to emerging markets to 80%, from 70% after the launch of HYLAS 2. "We don't currently have coverage in the Gulf of Guinea, where there's huge oil wealth," Williams says, adding that the company sees attractive opportunities with large oil companies in Nigeria, for example. He also pointed to democratic liberalization in North Africa, which "could lead to better economic growth" and adds, "the design of this satellite means that I can put it where I want it quickly responding to demand where it emerges." The success of the share placing, which he sees as much preferable to taking on debt, shows that his confidence in the company's ability to generate strong revenues, is shared by investors, he says. | ![]() restassured
06/2/2012 12:24 | although we havent seen much of an uplift in the sp, i think this will come also the downside to the share price looks pretty minimal to me | ![]() geheimnis2
06/2/2012 12:19 | Unlikely I would have thought Backmarker I would expect the BOD to want to build the company much more before paying dividends... | ![]() yorgi
06/2/2012 12:17 | it's a shame we are going to have to wait until 2015 for HYLAS 3. I was hoping it would be early 2014. perhaps it means we'll start getting dividends earlier ! | ![]() backmarker

06/2/2012 11:26 | Looks like a positive picture for the future. Having bought in at 307.5p at start of the year I have some catching up to do but am confident that this share will be a good long term investment. Good luck all holders... | ![]() rathlindri
06/2/2012 10:03 | looking forward to the analyst updates on this. fair point on dilution but only a bit more than expected so might trim eps by a little. i think we will all be happier when this is generating cash and has a main market listing - which it sounds like we will see next year :-) | ![]() geheimnis2
06/2/2012 10:02 | A major uncertainty has now been lifted. The business is now fully funded and contracts are coming in thick and fast. | ![]() restassured
06/2/2012 09:55 | I see the AVN "Inverse Rule" is applying yet again today. A decent RNS and the price remains down. Here's hoping that H2 explodes on lift off and we should all make a bundle LOL. | ![]() 2vdm
06/2/2012 09:49 | It will take a week or two to let the dust settle. There is still the shorts on that held the stock at 285p. ......now the little game has been completed, they all go back to the hideout and divy up the takings, before anyone can let loose.......some for you.....some for you......and some for you. The city nowdays is as bent a a 5 bob note. People worked hard to keep this share price around 285p for 2 months. Don't stop it being a great buy though. Like I said a 20/30 bagger in 7 years........or more likely get taken out in 1 to 2 years for 1700/2000p dyor. | ![]() volvo

06/2/2012 08:39 | VOLVO - 3 Feb'12 - 11:51 - 7493 of 7501 edit I bought 20k shares recently. Its a high tech play with already significant imbedded value. Fully financed for 2 satelites, 1 in space, the other due to be in 3 months. 3rd satelite on the drawing board and financing due to be released soon. Suggest you wait for the results within following 10 days, see about Hylas 2 update (launch etc), and see if they tickle the fancy (and shareprice). My contacts said they will, but dyor. | ![]() volvo
06/2/2012 08:18 | roger the share will certainly rise with the build up and sucessful launch of Hylas 2 in June/July. Followed by 3 years of European Space A stuff and Hylas 3.Long term hold on this one. Worth noting they went to the city in the middle of a harsh economic winter and asked for 75m and they were quoted 281p a share as the 'make it happen' price. YOU CAN STILL BUY TO SUB 290P.........AND SO I DID, ANOTHER 8K SHARES. I am telling people that the large multi national telecom players, loaded with cash, are watching this and can see the growth prospects with minor competition. ........unquote dyor. | ![]() volvo
06/2/2012 08:08 | nw99, be careful of RHPS, TB continued to push this when we were all buying at £5.50/ £6 and he never considered that it might drop back so far so many of us have been waiting for some time for this to recover. Suggest that we will see more interest as we get closer to H2, originally scheduled for March/Aprl, now it appears to be June.My initial tgt remains at £10, not £15, and I still think it is some distance away. | ![]() 2vdm
06/2/2012 08:07 | Nice to see you here VOLVO. Still long term hopes for POG. I trust that the share price will rise over the coming months now we are fully funded. | ![]() rogerbridge
06/2/2012 07:52 | Well that explains the lack of positive share price reaction against the backdrop of contract wins. Hopefully it has now got that monkey off its back and we can move forward. | ![]() billytkid2

06/2/2012 07:27 | WOW, definatley one for the bottom draw. Fully funded 3 satelites (one in orbit, next one up in June, then 3rd by 2015) and in bed with the European Space A, for Hylas 3. Great comforting news. Got 20k in my pension bought at 290p 2 weeks ago. What will they be worth in 7 years when I take my tax free lump sum, imo a 20/30 bagger from here.........and I am completely sane. Giant inflation (another story but def coming) and controlling space and broadband in the middle east/africa will see enormous gains. Will be bought out imo. The story is too good. | ![]() volvo |
