Thanks for the update AA29. Does your last sentence mean that someone left unsatisfied?

At the AGM (this should make PETERBLOK happy, sorry for the delay), I think they said Ireland was one of their strongest broadband markets.

General feedback was that DW remains confident that capacity will be filled within the target time and at Avanti pricing. The inference was that there were a steady stream of deals being made and a chunkier deal would serve to effectively reduce the three or five year target.

With some of the newer applications, the point was made was that the sales process can become protracted when the buyer has to take a leap in terms of accepting new technology.

I was reminded that the Business Internet Continuity product allows them to resell the same capacity several times as its a standby service. Instead of a business losing its phone line and then its website (if it hosts its own servers) with consequent loss of business , the BIC immediately reroutes traffic using the satellite so quickly that they said you wouldnt notice the change.

I think there were possibly only three private shareholders there but at least two of us left reassured as to progress.

There was something in the Sunday Times Business Section Irish edition about Niall Quinn investing in a company which had bought capacity from Avanti. Can't remember the name, but they were promising rural access to broadband which they claim couldn't be provided any other way.

Just had a look at o3b. The concept and backers behind it must make it a worry.

Tday

That's why I mention Iofina, what is waste to most has turned out to be a lucrative resource for Iofina, water for fracking.

The US sector big water suppliers to the oil and gas industry are about to do a JV with little old Iofina, who were after Atlantis field water for it's iodine content.

However the water has very low contaminants in it, compared to the highly contaminated water coming from the Tiger ridge, and Medicine hat fields.
They need good quality water to do the fracking, 30k barrels per frac process. Hence Halliburton sort out the treatment plant and supply chain, while it costs Iofina nothing and they get a cut from the water taken.

That's what is being missed. The water carries more value than the gas or iodine they can produce and was never in the original plan. Environment and water restriction issues have turned an ignored/overlooked source, into a lucrative asset.

Sorry Gary Isee your point, it was just the hype by RHPS a few months back was excessive.

Yorgi makes a good point. It is performance that will now drive this share upwards, sentiment and potential means nothing right now on a host of shares.

Performance, I would imagine, would need to be evident, for the raising of funds for Hylas 3, as without it, what lender is going to provide the cash.

This does seem to be a good buy-in price for the potential. However with tight purse strings in all countries, the luxury of relatively expensive broadband may take a back seat.

As for RHPS they have been screaming buy at much higher levels than this, so IMO ignore that and trust your own judgement/research.

Yorgi, as we have made our peace, Cast an eye over Iofina.

Worth remembering that William Wyatt the CEO of Caledonia is a non exec at AVN , he has a personal holding in AVN which he's been adding to this year along with the other directors . From memory i think Caledonia's holding is about 15% .

Tom Bulford at RHPS in his weekly email update writes:-

The leading shareholder in Avanti is the successful long-term backer of businesses, Caledonia Investments. In its interim results it describes Avanti as having been 'particularly hard hit by market sentiment' and expresses confidence that it has a 'bright future and a much higher intrinsic value than currently being awarded by the market.' I agree. BUY
