"HYLAS Satellite Reaches Geostationary Orbit

Bangalore, India (PTI) Dec 02, 2010

HYLAS (Highly Adaptable Satellite), which was launched successfully on November 27, 2010 by the European Ariane-5 V198 launch vehicle, has reached the geostationary orbit.

It may be recalled that the HYLAS, the satellite jointly built by ISRO/Antrix and EADS/Astrium of Europe for Avanti communications of U.K. was initially injected into an elliptical Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) with a perigee of 250 km, apogee of 35,906 km and inclination of 1.99o.

ISROs Master Control Facility at Hassan immediately took over the control and command operations of the satellite.

The perigee was raised from 250 km to 35,521 km by firing the satellite's Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) of 432 Newton thrust level in three phases on Nov 28th (for 1 hour 19 minutes), on Nov 29th (for 30 minutes) and today (for about 4 minutes).

The HYLAS Satellite, presently in an orbit of 35,521 km (perigee) x 35,800 km (apogee) is in good health and in continuous radio-visibility from Hassan.

One of its communication antennas has also been deployed successfully."

More press - UK Anlayst report 2nd Dec :- "Avanti Communications* (AVN), the broadband satellite operator, swung to a "better-than-expected" pre-tax loss for the year ended 30th June 2010 as turnover fell due to the decision to stop selling interim service on rented satellite capacity. The company, which recently successfully launched its HYLAS-1 satellite into orbit, revealed a pre-tax loss of 1.96 million pounds, down from a profit of 1.8 million pounds a year earlier, as revenue dropped by 27.68% to 5.82 million pounds. In a separate announcement, the group revealed that it has signed a five year contract worth 15.5 million dollars (9.9 million pounds) to provide TigrisNet, the international satellite service provider, with IP based services in Europe and the Middle East. Shares in Avanti slipped 4.5p to 721p."

Cenkos house broker for Avanti comments today-

Avanti Communications has announced results for the year to June 2010 with revenue of £5.8m delivering an EBITDA of -£1.1m and loss before tax of -£1.4m. Whilst coming in ahead of expectations, even more importantly Avanti's first satellite Hylas 1 was successfully launched from French Guiana last week. The successful launch demonstrates management's ability to design, develop and finance a fleet of satellites. Hylas 1 is the most complex civilian payload ever designed and launched. It will provide pan European services. Unlike other major European operators it has been largely privately financed. Demand for remaining bandwidth has heightened post launch as highlighted by yesterday's agreement with BT and today's $15m deal with TigrisNet. Management are confident of reaching full capacity by the end of FY12. The launch validates shareholder confidence and sets a platform for further expansion of the Avanti fleet. Hylas 2 and Hylas 3 are already in the pipeline. We reiterate our 2300p price target.

Well,I`ll be delighted by £8 by the end of this year and then maybe £10 by spring. After that maybe entering the main market will act as the driver up till Hylas2.

yorgi thanks for that
i think we will have to be a little patient now before we break out again. it seems to be consolidating its gains which are good but too much selling pressure on strength. This will change with broker upgrades and once hylas 1 is operational. we will hope to contunieu a steady stream of contracts which will build the future cash flows and future eps.

i think it is one of those to look away from for a a few months and look back at in the new year when newsflow increases then we will have more talk on Hylas2

- it's in the 'Notice Of Results' announcement up top. Noon today.
Analysts attending do not appear to have tipped off their mates and distant relatives to rush out and buy in huge quantities.

Investors Chronicle 2pm update. See final paragraph dismissing loss.

Broadband satellite provider Avanti Communications saw its shares rocket to a record high of 740.5p after successfully launching its multi-million pound HYLAS 1 satellite from the Kourou Space Centre in French Guiana.

HYLAS 1 is the first of a new generation of Ka-band satellites that promises to put many rural regions on the broadband map for the first time. Avanti has already signed a deal with BT to supply satellite broadband to users in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, plus other contracts covering parts of Europe and the Middle East, including Iraq. A larger version, Hylas 2, last week completed critical tests that put it on target for a planned launch in 2012.

This week Avanti reported largely irrelevant full year losses after tax of £1.9m, on £5.8m of revenue. It has net cash of around £100m.

Anyone who has watched the AVN share price over the last 12 to 18 months will know it can move pretty rapidly at times and here we are 3 trading days after launch and we have 2 contracts announced.........I don't think 800p is far away at all.

i assume galvan research is not associated with avanti in which case it is good to hear a non affiliated broker saying they believe the share price has plenty of growth still left in it, and the price target i believe is very good for the time frame mentioned.

Has anything been mentioned about a move to the main market yet?

What is so often missing with price targets is the time frame, when it will acheive or should achieve that. 800p by the end of December or early January is good but if we look at twelve months time we should be way way about that £10, £11 plus......If the contracts roll in and Hylas1 continues to function and progress on Hylas2 keeps to target then who knows.

I expect to see 800p by Christmas or in early January at the latest
