"I expect the data crunch to give us opportunity and demand to finance many satellites in the next decade or so. We have enough spectrum available to launch perhaps 20 satellites."

"..During the year we extended our customer base so that we have sold capacity to over sixty service providers in Europe. Given that each customer typically
commits only to enough bandwidth to serve the business they can forecast in the
short term, we expect them all to come back to us to buy more bandwidth to cope
with growth. We would also expect to sign new customers whose caution prevented them from committing prior to the launch of HYLAS 1."

Results are irrelevent. It's the future that matters - and that's looking better and better for AVN.

Loss £1.93m vs previously expected loss of £4.24m

(EDIT: That £1.93m is net. Not sure if that £4.24m is same?)

AVN smashes forecast pretax profits and EPS, even on worse than expected revenue, (yet we know revenue will now grow) plus we are drip fed a contract win per day....may it continue...:-)

"We are of the opinion that the World is beginning to see a data crunch where the demand for data transmission capacity will greatly outstrip supply across all market sectors and geographies, so any company in possession of long term rights to use large amounts of spectrum has a strong future.

In particular, the transmission of video across all platforms, and the emergence of cloud computing will fundamentally change consumers' bandwidth requirements. In the enterprise sector, machine to machine communications looks set to transform the way many businesses operate and we are seeing strong demand in telemetry, banking and retail for the movement of critical real time financial and performance data.

We believe we have a strong role to play in helping mobile phone companies to maximise the flexibility and efficiency with which they can support network growth in rural areas. In the institutional market, the automation of many operations, particularly in unmanned aerial vehicles creates a very significant opportunity - it is apparent that in the sector Ka band beginning to experience mainstream demand and we are confident of capitalising on this trend."

Well that's a great contract win and cracking, carefully constructed IMS. Highlights for me are
1= already selling onto HYLAS2
2- Extra services for institutional customers which will bring kudos and big bucks
3- Prudent timescales for selling full capacity but confident it can be done quickly

You don't get much more bullish than this...

"Avanti now has one satellite in orbit and a second
launching in a little over a year, a very strong balance sheet with no debt
service payments or cash flow covenants falling due until December 2012, huge
untapped markets and a quite thrilling opportunity to create a company of
genuine scale."

Contract Win

Avanti Communications (AIM: AVN), the broadband satellite operator, is pleased to announce that it has signed a five year contract worth $15.5m, with the international satellite service provider TigrisNet.

TigrisNet, has purchased capacity to provide IP based services in Europe and the Middle East delivered on both Avanti's HYLAS 1 satellite, successfully launched on November 26th, and Avanti's HYLAS 2 satellite scheduled for launch in Spring 2012.

TigrisNet is the leading VSAT (Internet via Satellite) provider in Iraq, providing a range of services that covers clients from every sector and size, including Government bodies to SMEs and local ISPs. TigrisNet is also the market leader in Video Conferencing and VoIP.

Commenting, David Williams, Avanti Chief Executive, said:

"I am delighted that Avanti is able to announce its first fleet sale involving a commitment from the customer to use both HYLAS 1 and HYLAS 2 satellites. TigrisNet operates in two of our main markets, Europe and the Middle East and has powerful and important relationships, which together with our technology should make for excellent growth beyond this initial contract and I look forward to working with them."

sco77harris - my opinion hasn't changed, I am merely stepping aside as one other poster thinks it's OK for you to 'make light' a stock without any fundamental or technical information backing your view that it is "......hugely undervalued compared to comparable companies and the ceo is very well renowned."

We will agree to disagree.
