"It would not take a very large fall to fill it.”
=====================================================

Perhaps I should have added 'relatively speaking'. Viewing the chart I posted it will be seen less than a 50%Fib retrace would fill the gap.

It seems that the US Markets are not bothered about the FED Benchmark Rate going above 5% or they believe it will not reach that level. Either way unless and until the markets 'take fright' at one thing or another the gap is unlikely to fill.....but I do think it will.

The event Mr Powell spoke at was about Central Bank independence and he stuck to that. US CPI tomorrow and the US earnings season commences on Friday.

Good day Mr b"At some point I do expect the gap at 4550 to fill. It would not take a very large fall to fill it."Forever a glass half empty and full of gaps.....perhaps the 4550 gap is the new never to be filled gap of 2888?. Would say a 10% fall is a very large fall but then I'm forever a glass half full chap....but respectful of guru status.Mr P seemed more interested in policy and politics than giving any clues about rate hikes. US CPI and jobless claims tomorrow may pivot the Powell :)

Good day mayers

At some point I do expect the gap at 4550 to fill. It would not take a very large fall to fill it. I did think it would have done so by now but the share price remains resilient. As to what will cause it to fill I don't know. The US markets continue to look on the bright side.

There is another gap down at 2888. Barring a major catastrophe it looks set to remain for a long time if not forever. On the bright side there are two gaps to be filled near the high at 6200 and 6328. Little doubt these will fill but it may not be until 2024.

I imagine it may be difficult to say but how great is the threat of the gap at 4550 but does it remain there to be readily filled on a bad day, an abrupt fall or one with some warning? Thanks.

"What a guru! :)"
=================

I've been saying it for years!

The US markets are looking to the 'Sunny Upland' for a reduced rate increase at the next FED meeting; maybe 0.25%. BUT he who can and often does put a spanner in the works speaks tomorrow; yes it's the one and only Mr Powell!!! The man who can turn optimism to pessimism with one word and vice versa.

I will await the uttering of 'The Powell' with colonic anticipation!

Happy New Year disc0

Thank you for the link.

Will you be placing your bets/investments on the strength of it? It's a macro forecast based on very historical data. The idea of using charts to forecast where markets will be 10 years hence is not for me, I'm far more micro....no rude comments please.

The three main US Indices were all down in 2022:
NAS 100 -32.97%
S&P500 -19.43%
DOW30 -8.78%

The FTSE100 finished up 0.91%

Barring something truly catastrophic it's a fair bet that the US Indices will recover some of the losses but we may have to wait into the second half of the year.

As a short timeframe trader who trades long and short I will continue trading the strategy and tactics that I have evolved over the years which work for me.

On a slightly different subject I saw 'Biden signs $1.7 trillion government spending bill into law'. The irony was not lost on me that Biden has approved spending on a range of projects whilst Powell is trying to reduce inflation by means of interest rate rises to reduce spending. It's probably part on a cunning plan but the logic eludes me.

"Guess every investor (& shorters like yourself) gains in one way or another from some people being impacted negatively. Balanced with charitable donations to ease the guilt!."
================================================================================

Yes very true.

As for Mr P who knows. Even if he does what the market thinks e.g. 0.25% it's what he says afterwards that determines the market reaction.

AHT is taking its time dropping to fill the 4550 gap.
