Good day Mr bCapitalist....with sympathy for those folks that suffered.Guess every investor (& shorters like yourself) gains in one way or another from some people being impacted negatively. Balanced with charitable donations to ease the guilt!.

Mr bTodays US PCE data and comments.......note the opening line:-The Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge revealed that Americans reined in their spending at the end of 2022 despite faster-than-expected growth in incomes. According to the Department of Commerce, in seasonally adjusted terms personal incomes increased at a month-on-month pace of 0.4% - ahead of consensus of estimates for a reading of 0.2%. At the core level, PCE prices were ahead by 4.7%, down from the 5.0% pace observed during the previous month. Personal spending, on the other hand, was up by just 0.1% shy of expectations for a print of 0.2%, but the previous month's increase was revised up by a tenth of a percentage point to 0.9%.

Good day disc0

US Existing Home Sales (MoM)(Nov). Down which is bad but good.

US Existing Home Sales Change (MoM)(Nov). Down which is bad but good.

US Consumer Confidence (Dec) Up which is good but bad. However the US market appears to interpret it as 'good but good'. I thought it would be 'good but bad' because confidence will cause people to spend money which will increase inflation which Mr Powell does not want.....but he may have changed his mind and not informed me.

Is Mr Powell playing a cunning game or is he incompetent? One might consider it is the former. Surely the Head of the Federal Reserve couldn't be that incapable.

Whichever it is there is no relying on him to be consistent in his statements.

You may find it of slight interest that the Daily SMA 50 (blue squiggly line) is providing support. It has been a s/r zone previously but not a strong one. Just thought I'd mention it........time for another pill.

Good evening Mr BI do hope your anarokitis moderates :)So 6 months ago he was adamant that his 2% target is unmovable, is the same guy that a week ago was dovish, now is hawkish, the same guy that said inflation was transitory!....I'm sure there are many more examples to demonstrate how he changes his views on a whim. Think the world has changed a lot since his 2% was established a decade ago. There are those economists that argue:"that if the Fed were to raise its inflation target from 2% it would not have to raise rates as much, in turn leading to less labor market pain".Only time will tell....as always.Keep taking the pills old chap :)

Good day Mr bThanks as ever for your TA. That said it's a tad worrying that you have not only answered your own question but also imagined there are folks out there chanting 4861, 4861, we love you 4861.Just made me chuckle so no offence intended. Yep a sell off yet again but Saint Nick will hopefully come out to play in a few weeks :)Ps read some article, think it may have been in the Shares magazine, that H2 2023 could be when the bull market starts, just love how people can see so clearly into the future.....that said is it all a self fulfilling prophecy?

The share price back down to support at 4861 where it meets the lower line of the lesser rising channel. But once again it closes above support.

How long before the members of the 'Dedicated to Support at 4861 Group' decide enough is enough and decide to withdraw to the next support zone. Plus there is that gap at 4550 to be filled. Thought I should mention it; you may have forgotten.

However the true impact of the rise in Base Rate will take a few days before it becomes clearer….
