Sterling earnings have increased by about 14% in recent weeks
Add in some growth non organic and organic
Add in less shares...

Surely 20% + in GBP ?

Certainly not. An Elite Guru would never think of such a thing. Any Guru, even those from the lower orders, would be called immediately to appear before the Grand Council to explain themself.

That was a heck of a dive on opening it looked as if it was going for the gap fill at 4145 but buyers rushed to the rescue.

For those who are interested I have posted the one minute chart below. You can see it started dropping late yesterday. Upon opening this morning there was a small move up and then sellers came in until the share price reached 4200 which was the signal for buyers to take over and bring it back up to where it closed yesterday. Games being played?

When I posted the chart this morning 4381 was barely broken and there was a possibility that the share price would recover and close above it. The share price continued down and closed at 4329 so it is now broken. The market decided not to wait for Mr Powell. There is a possibility that it could recover tomorrow but I would not wish to bet on it.

Thanks Mr bThis confused me as it had already broken, or have I misunderstood?3 If the market doesn't like what Mr Powell says at Jackson Hole 4381 is likely to break.

The gap at 4397 now filled. Next one is at 4145.

I have added another gap at 3938 which I had previously missed.

Other technicals

1 share price has dropped below the 38.2% fib. and the rising trend line.

2 Possible support at 4381.

3 If the market doesn't like what Mr Powell says at Jackson Hole 4381 is likely to break. Next support fib at 23.6% (4052).

I’m not sure I understand the CGT reference, if it is Capital Gain Tax liability, I opted out some time ago, all my investments are within an ISA moat, isn't everyones?

As for the dividend, every little helps….

.....and capital has reduced about 32% from its 52w high. So congrats again Perfido on your trades!.A 32% drop in capital (was 50%) v CGT of 20%, Div yield insignificant IMO.....like comedy, timing is everything :)

It's an ill wind.....

According to my rough calculation the dollar (spot) appreciated from $1.213 to $1.183 against the £1 in the last week, that is +2.5%, and presumably translates into an increase in our (sterling) dividend expections for the Sept 9th payment date. :-)

The next FED meeting is 20-21 September so an increase in the interest rate will be too late but the Jackson Hole meeting on 26 August may assist your cause.

Two charts today, yes I know you can hardly believe how fortunate you are.

The first chart shows the drop from the all time high to the recent low and the related fib analysis. The second chart shows the Covid drop and subsequent rise.

Viewing the first chart the share price has yet to reach the 50% fib and is currently becalmed and moving sideways. When it does decide to move up it has two likely resistance zones, the 50% fib and the Daily SMA200 (black down sloping line). The blue dashed lines are unfilled opening gaps.

The second chart showing a longer timeframe is included merely to show the fib and the price action relative to it.

Good morning fenners,

Interesting dilemma.

If it was me I would plump for ‘b’, it makes more economic sense, and rationalise ‘a’ as ‘it is never wrong to bank some profit and reduce single company exposure.’

However of course it depends on the company, it’s outlook, and the proportion of your portfolio it represents and your life stage.

Interesting to see what others make of it! Anyway good luck with whatever you choose 😊

I have a dilemma though.

If you sell some of your shares in a company but retain others; do you ....

a, Hope the price goes down to "prove your sale right"

or

b, Hope the price goes up to support the shares you still have ?

Oh dear I've spotted a new type of gap.....

Nothing heard from two of our most prolific posters for over two days, its like the wreck of the Mary Celeste here..

Now is it:

a: a breakaway gap?

b: a runaway gap?

c: Exhaustion?

d: Other gaps

Come back fellas, whatever ails you, you are missed and we need your help....

In the meantime AHT still clings on to 4627 level on modest volume, showing credible resilience, where next? .
