03/9/2014 11:08 | Broken out to all time highs - some decent broker upgrades coming imo From Dow Jones: "The company said that its end markets were in the early stages of recovery, up around 8% year on year, and that it was growing ahead of that, with same-store growth of 17% as it continues to win market share, in part through opening new branches and making small acquisition...." 03/9/2014 09:48 | breakout the rising resistance line on the 2-year chart - target purely from that would be ~£12. there you go - much cheaper and quicker than these analysts, and I've no position so not talking a tale to assist my clients either :) | sportbilly1976
03/9/2014 08:41 | Ashtead's underlying pre-tax profits rose to a record £120.4m in the first quarter - up 33% at constant exchange rates. Underlying group rental revenues were up 22% at £417.,7m and underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation and operating profits rose to £209.9m and £133.5m - up 30% and 33% respectively. Chief executive Geoff Drabble said: "We are pleased to report another strong quarter as we continue to capitalise on recovering markets and take further market share in both Sunbelt and A-Plant. Sunbelt delivered 22% rental revenue growth and A-Plant 19% which, together with a focus on operational efficiency, helped to deliver record underlying pre-tax profits of £120m. "We invested £284m in capital expenditure and a further £32m on bolt-on acquisitions in the quarter as we continue our strategy focussed on organic growth supplemented by bolt-on acquisitions. Given the momentum evident in the business, we are increasing our full year guidance for capital expenditure to a range of £825m to £875m. While we continue to invest heavily in the business, our strong margins allow us to do this while maintaining our leverage discipline. "As a result of this strong performance, and with a strong balance sheet to support future growth, we now anticipate a full year result ahead of our previous expectations | broadwood

02/9/2014 17:51 | This was on Citywire a few days ago, £109.9 million. Ashtead set for profit boost The US division of tool hire company Ashtead (AHT) is expected to lift first quarter results. Jefferies analyst Justin Jordan reiterated his ‘buy’ recommendation and increased the target price from £11.00 to £11.50 as he predicted positive news from the first quarter 2015 results due next Wednesday, thanks to the business’ US Sunbelt division. Shares were trading at 976p yesterday. ‘We forecast 18% Q1 2014 Sunbelt rental revenue growth, which post 9.5% foreign exchange headwind gives £109.9 million/ 13.7p profits before tax/ earnings per share,’ he said. ‘With improving US macro and Ashtead’s organic led expansion giving continued market share gains, we see upside risk to estimates.' Jordan added: ‘The key risks remain US macro, pricing pressure and FX. With improving macro outlook and continued market shares gain we are increasingly confident Ashtead is in the early innings of a multi-year period of supernormal profits before tax and earnings per share growth.’ | dcarn
