Today's reason for the rise.

Repeating its 'buy' rating on the stock, Berenberg said the investment case for Ashtead is based on an expected recovery in US non-residential construction, and the market share gains forecast through organic expansion and bolt-on merger and acquisition, as well as a positive outlook for margins

Looking on the AHT site for major s/holders I note Kames Capital have gone. At the last count they had 14.7 million (2.92%). I have not see mention of their holding being sold.

I think if the holding is below 5% there is no need to inform the company.

Perhaps the link below has something to do with it.

Generale SA (SG SA) Newedge were directly interested in a total of 25,728,533
of its shares (or 5.11% of its share capital) and indirectly interested in
409,500 shares (or 0.08% of its share capital).
Where have they got 25+M shares from?

That's a fair target - a higher high.

Maybe some resistance at 940. If it goes through on a wide ranging bar or gaps through I would expect it to return to retest.

AHT Ashtead Group PLC looks rather cheapish, forward P/E of just 16.5 2015 falling to P/E 14.9 2016. Ive gone long in another tranche.

The share price has broken above resistance at 920 but may drop back to retest and also fill the opening gap.

Another attempt at 920 but did not retreat very far back from it.

The upward direction of the markets suggests it is only a matter of 'when' not 'if'.
