Could it be that the market has a similar opinion to some of what fenners posted yesterday? Some of the 'sparkle' this share had has diminished.

Perhaps when the market finally gets the rate cut it has been expecting for several months,if not a year, the market will perk up and take AHT with it. There is also the Santa Rally to come and the Presidential Election.

Concerning your wish that the bears depart I draw your attention to the S&P 500.

The daily chart shows a continuing rise from November 2023 during which time it has risen 27%. Little evidence of bears. Arguably the bears are due to make their appearance but will likely be discouraged by rate cuts.

DAILY S&P500 Please excuse all the lines, it's the trend which is important.

Yes another gap drops the share price back into the range where it is most comfortable...the Goldilocks Zone.

If the US Market has a tantrum perhaps the FOMC may go for a 0.5% cut

Good day disc0

You will be pleased to read that following the fallback of the share price gaps at 5458, 5358 and 5332 have been filled. Every cloud has a silver lining.....maybe.

The FIB at 5520 is the 38.2% level using the high as Zero (61860) and the low at 100 (4441). It is simply a possible support/resistance level.

I have tided up the chart and removed that FIB retracement and replaced it with another which is more suitable but it is possible the deleted one may come back into play.

The thick red line at 5790 has in the past been a strong resistance zone.

August US manufacturing data shrank again which has rattled the market. Just bad timing for any US centred company to be releasing results. Agree with 2FP, I'm not liking the way the BoD are purely focussed on pocketing as much as they can.

Afternoon All,
Looked at the results this morning not good.
Amazed to see the S/P rise at open, sold all my shares.
The end of an era.
I agree with fenners,
Have to say its looking like a bunch of greedy
inadequate yanks.
Cheers

As I said earlier - US market always seems to fall on the days when AHT makes headway...

Perhaps release first quarter results in August next year?
Since Bloomberg have been pumping that September is the worst month of the year for US stocks...

Good day Mr bThose bloody gaps! lolThanks for the chart, can I ask what's the fib at about the £55 mark? (just curious, no clue as to its resistance / support relevance!).Looks like the US is a bit risk off today after their day off, so interesting to see if risk on for AHT?.

Thank you for your comments fenners...a well restrained rant.

On to the chart, where else?

A large gap on opening to take the share price up to the high for the day so far. I show the one minute chart below for those interested in the early price action.

The gap up filled the gap at 5458. The move up at the open has created a gap at 5358...yes I know 'confusing gaps'.

The initial move up took the share price above the downtrend line but it has dropped back to rest on it.

The move up did not take out the last major high at 5684 which is the next target.

We will see what the US Market thinks of the results later today.

Two pieces of US data due soon may assist the cause. Unemployment Rate which is likely to determine the size of the interest rate cut.

Should have anticipated the fall back - possibly as the "markets" take a step backwards , as every time in recent years AHT share price seems to be making headway the market has derailed it.
Almost seems like AHT signals the top of the market... oh well

"Ashtead reviews its capital structure regularly, including its domicile, recognising the fact that 90 per cent of its business is in the US," the company said in an email on Tuesday, reiterating its earlier response to reports on its listing. Was anticipating the worst when in auction so nice to see the positive reaction, particularly as IMO the numbers don't look too brilliant - but guess it confirms that it is a profit beat to forecasts for the quarter.

No direct mention in results about moving the listing to the US
however in the announcement for the new CFO Alex Pease

"Alex will be based in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Over the coming months Michael will work closely with Alex to ensure a seamless transition. "

So that fits with being a US listed company....

They will say they have generated more cash this quarter.... but not spent as much on equipment
but so what
It does not translate into higher EPS or dividends.
When I look at the age profile of plant - I may be wrong , but it seems to be many more months that it
used to be...
