Finally a tick up on the bid! If that does not encourage one of our sellers I don't know what will!

It could be worse, the spread at UVEL is 0.111 vs 0.287.

I can get an immediate bid on 1.1M shares and it's been a long time since that was the case!Whatever games they are playing at the moment these will be only going up and up long term.

I just looked to try and buy but could not get a quote even going so low as 50,000 shares.
If I try to sell 87,000 it offers me 2.325. I wonder if there is a big buy trying to be fulfilled. Otherwise it has no chance to increase if you can not buy any!

As "fair value" here is, at the moment on a "conservative view" reckoned to be a shade under 6p, does the published spread really matter?

We know it's false anyway, as I said earlier you can buy around 2.57p (small trade just gone through at ask), and sell around 2.42p.

If you believe the "fair value" and also that the shares will be much higher in due course as positive newsflow continues and the gold price strengthens, and you are prepared to wait it out, buying at 2.7p is no big deal.

I have constantly accumulated here and have now set a target of continual nibbling under 3p. I have no intention of selling until these at least 5 bag, so am prepared to wait until then.

My holding is nowhere near biggles but I have in excess of 2.3m now and am more than happy to add and hold.

More an investor than a trader but my first focus is on downside protection. The spread here is massively off putting for investors and traders. Which is why the volumes are down. We are in a catch 22 at the moment and it needs either blow the doors off news or for the spread to drop before that changes

Donald - just admit it, you're a trader not an investor

Donald, are you referring to my post? I think you may have misunderstood. I agree with you that the published spread is unrealistic but that is not what I posted about.

PaulDon't be absurd. The spread is off putting. Though you can trade within it, the fact is that the spread reflects the price that MMs agree to trade the quoted size at. Perhaps 1% of investors look at small gold companies. Of those, I'd say a large proportion won't buy if a spread is above 5-10%. If the spread was reliably 0.1p I'd buy more now. But I won't at 2.2/2.7. And judging by the volumes I'm not the only one

Jaf, I tried that and they didn't want too listen, so I wish you luck from one o.a.p. too another. Why the hell would you buy into a stock with a 25% spread. It's bloody ridiculous. Don't know what their game is, but is more than enough to put of all but the stupid.

Does anyone else look at the trades in AAU on the London Stock Exchange website? I find that showing the Total Trade Value in pence rather than pounds and pence confusing, is it just me?

I think Newmont has a first right of refusal at commercial terms? If we want to sell or JV that is.

Hopefully deep drilling as Salinbas will find the footprint of the giant too. The best of all will be if project leopard is further down the same trail and hits the same topography whilst being one hundred percent AAU!
