Agreed Konil but it could be so much better with so much minimal push.....the gap between share price and reality is becoming irksome to many.

soul, by no means a definite outcome, its just extrapolating a possible scenario, as follows. it will put a value on the 50% owned by aau. i've no idea what numbers the ipo will do but it will be a definite stake in the ground. that could trigger valuations on the turkish gold business - ok, bit of a stretch that one at first - but it will certainly draw focus on the 50% owned magellan project and the potential 25% owned alpiki mine. firstly, the ipo is unlikely to be valued at anywhere near the eventual production values of those two even on a discounted npv basis, it would never get off the ground, so that will leave plenty of room for at least some blue sky thinking. broker notes are often absurdly conservative so no blue sky thinking there! secondly, once the cyprus parts begin to be valued its quite likely someone will try to put numbers on the turkish gold mines.

aau is so undervalued but also so under the radar, it probably just needs some focus drawn to it to get things started, i see the ipo as a potential catalyst...hopefully.

It should konil but when there is no value assigned to the rest of our business by the way of an 'up to date' broker note then how will we know if the Venus ipo is worth a rise for us?

plasybryn, thanks for feedback. i'm hoping they dont slip too much on the venus ipo. if successful, i see that as a potential trigger for a rerate (possibly small) for aau, on the basis that it puts a value on aau's 50% stake in venus. we should be hearing about something along that road soon.

how I see the AAU "situation" - old hand shareholders represent mom and AAU is the kid.

mom understands her kid and knows how good he is - according to their own circumstances

-------------------

other people see just a kid "as it is" - and do not bother with further investigations

It's about investor priorities as much as simple black and white decisions.Personally I wouldn't be here still if this was three years ago as I'd be looking for a quicker buck. Circumstances now dictate I am happy with a long term investment I don't need to pay too much attention to at and therefore AAU suits me as while I can't see the communication being managed sufficiently to attain true value quickly, I trust that in 18 months or 2 years it won't need communication.I believe JAF has been honest in that he doesn't have that luxury and I therefore understand his position as it would be mine too in the same circumstances.I guess AAU and me have been a perfect fit, I trebled/quadrupled holdings when I wanted quick gains and now my circumstances have changed their longevity now suits.

de gustibus non est disputandum

each has his own view - but we are all here because we found something that we love more than hate on balance

so we are all seeing more good than bad.

and discussion about bad is very civil and I appreciate posters to do so. and I try not to be repetitive ;) (I only try).

konil,

I appreciate your viewpoint and I can understand where you are coming from.

To me, there is no excuse for KS only concentrating on the parts of the CEO job that he wants to do. There have been so many positives in the last year or so that haven't had the publicity they deserve. I therefore conclude that he is happy with the way he is running the company, in other words in the style that suits him rather than his shareholders, hence my comments about this being a lifestyle company.

I have sold all I plan to sell in the near future and remain (too) heavily invested.

jaf, post 8629 lifestyle companies, all of it sounds familiar, absolutely none of it applies to aau.

i came in mid last year so the current share price is doing me no favours but i can separate my frustration from the reality of the investment. i've already pocketed a very good divi (50% of spec div) and the amount of progress aau has made on several fronts is ab fab, and they've done that during a pandemic. several significant things to look forward to in next 12 to 24 months - tavsan production, venus ipo, apliki mine (not yet a done deal but hopeful), salinbas results and progress towards production. then there is the blue sky potential from wtr and asgard/palm. meantime company is churning out $6m p.a. profit and maybe more from kizil. currently no debt to speak of and a big cash balance being judiciously applied to promising projects.

yes, i do criticise things like the divi handling, and it frustrates me that the marketing is sub-par, but that is nitpicking at the margins. unless something goes badly wrong (biggest current risk is keyman) aau is a top notch investment.

I'm definitely not Biggles. Plenty of companies are so proficient at the blarney because that is all they ever intend to do.

I love the Co. really Biggles, how can I not after being invested for over a decade - it's just I get frustrated when I see how much more they could be doing. Now they have also put up a barrier to direct shareholder communication with the Directors (all 2 of them) it just allows them to ignore us to an even greater extent. So many other Co's appear to love and encourage direct feedback but Kerim doesn't want such interference. Up to us I guess if we live with that attitude.

That's an unrealistic expectation though imo. I've never been invested in any company yet where I've felt the information released has always been sufficient, timely and well coordinated. There are always many reasons why this happens, some good, some bad.

There are plenty of other companies out there, if AAU no longer suits. I hold less than I used to, it gave me some much needed investment flexibility. I've no doubt I'll be holding AAU for a good while yet. But I find that being overly dependent on one stock to perform is bad for the anxiety.

I really don't understand some of you guys and the continual moaning. The timescales KS is working to will not suit everyone, but the path he is following looks pretty clear. The value is building and the risk diminishing but share prices have never moved in a linear fashion and they never will.

biggles,

It depends on how you measure the 'amount of progress this company has made'. The one metric that most shareholders value is the share price and this is currently where it was in July 2020, 16 months ago. That is not progress.

Shortarm given some leads from the BoD that they actually wanted to promote this company and the the things it has and does then I might be inclined to buy more. As it is it is just safe harbour until something more exciting comes along.

Are you still expecting the PG note by the end of the month?

Shortarm, MDV is probably going to dilute you with his options faster than you can acquire shares, even at a lower price ;-)
