Bored with semantics - totally irrelevant to ARB.
Another filter, makes it all easier to read.

Some people will debate properly, others just want to make a point - any point will do.

alm6 - "Modern economies are all just 1s and 0s bouncing around computers."

Fiat currencies are not digital currencies. It is only the transfer and storing of fiat currencies that are all in 1s and 0s. The fiat currency is real in terms of dollars, pounds or francs etc that you can physically put in your pocket. This is not the case for bitcoin which is a real digital currency.

Way higher mnomis

Total value of gold currently 7.5T to 10T depending on who you listen to

BTC circa 600B

BTC gets to gold around 500k

There is even a word for when BTC overtakes gold - the flippening:)

What goes up...must come down. Shorting $btc via etoro etc is one way to make a decent return for those that missed out.No advice intended....short at your own risk level

@Grayscale
added another ~5,132 #Bitcoin on Friday, which equals 5.70X of daily bitcoin mined.

For anyone who missed out, you need to engage brain on why ARB shot up and just get used to the fact that 'currency' does not necessarily mean the stuff you have in your hand that you give the barman. There is more true value in someone who can fix your car, than there is in a pound note. The mechanic hasn't got imaginary value.

Stamps used to be a reliable currency, but demographic changes are eroding their value. I effectively bought shares in the internet, by owning websites that had a return based on clicks. Websites are currency - I sold 2 to people who thought they would go up in value, but the websites are just a load of code.

So its back to the Matrix really to figure out what's got 'real' value and what hasn't.

You think that the balance of your bank account is actually backed up physically anywhere? You think the amount of currency in circulation is actually representative of physical notes and coins or, even more anachronistically, gold? How old are you 150? You think when government rolls out QE it literally prints more money? Modern economies are all just 1s and 0s bouncing around computers. Hate to break it to you.

But not ARB via OTCPWhite - why are you here if you know nothing about ARB or BTC?Is your life that tragic?Anyway your credibility is already shot to pieces so I'll not comment further on your posts.

Suffers - thanks for sharing intrinsic value link - will give it a proper read later, but looks interesting. They key for me is that this belongs in a sensible investor's portfolio as an allocation (Figure 7), just like gold, bonds, etc. As this adoption increases (as Grayscale indicates is accelerating), then BTC cannot trade where it is ... I think, for example, it gets to Gold's market cap at ~ $100k.

And who will accept your $BTC?.Just going to keep it in your wallet and look at it.Blockchain doesnt make it so easy to launder money. All assets will be tokenised and on a blockchain backep up by smart contracts. The rich are now pumping their money into onshore assets like ARB. .Leave it offshore!!!!.Use it or lose it

pogue - "OK so what about vintage cars or works of art they have no legal status"

They do have legal status. Indeed if the wealthy don't pay their taxes the government will seize assets like vintage cars and works of art sell them off at an auction and use the proceeds to settle their taxes. If you don't pay your council tax or a parking ticket exactly the same happens to your car. Bailiffs clamp it, you pay up or the car is towed away stored at a compound and then sold off.

Your bitcoin is stored in your own personal wallet nobody has access to it but yourself. Your bitcoin cannot be seized by bailiffs or anybody until it is transferred into legal tender like fiat currency or works of art. If you don't pay your taxes the government can even go into your bank account and seize all money over £5000. They cannot do that to your bitcoin wallet because the virtual currency is a string of 1s and 0s it doesn't actually exist. Your wallet is not legal tender until the 1s and 0s are owned and controlled by the government.
