21/10/2020 08:32 | Coal is a dead duck now Australia are in bad trouble re China stopping imports What buywell wonders is what will happen to the APF share price when the 5M buyback prog ends in about 16 trading days time ? | buywell3
19/10/2020 17:16 | India's coking coal imports rebounded in August from a near two-year low in July as lockdown restrictions were gradually lifted in major cities, boosting steel sales.India imported 3.17mn t of coking coal in August, which crossed the 3mn t mark for the first time in three months. August imports increased by 35pc from 2.34mn t a month ago but declined by 40pc on the year, according to data from e-commerce firm Mjunction (see table). The country's January-August imports declined by 21pc from a year earlier to 26.36mn t.Australian imports increased by 19pc from last month to 2.27mn t in August as Indian ships returned amid recovering steel demand, mainly because of a rise in domestic steel consumption. This was largely driven by a recovery in the automobile industry as Covid-19 lockdown restrictions were eased in major cities in August.https://www.a | the deacon

18/10/2020 21:26 | The Chinese may have alternative sources of coal, but not so sure about iron ore. | lord gnome
18/10/2020 21:01 | buywell is an illeist as was JC check out illeism for enlightenment and health ======= China and Australia and Coal and Iron Ore ======== China now has a ban on coal imports from Australia This ban is set to last for years according to press reports Iron Ore could be the next target imo as futures are falling on over supply buywacks at circa 100p now seem to be the support level chosen but buwell posits what happens when the 5M limit is hit ? 1,904,102 ordinary shares are held in treasury. The support was over 120p to begin with for around 5 days Then that dropped to 112p over the next 5 days Then about 105p for the next 5 days Total buyback money spent buywell posits to date is circa 2.1M over 15 trading days so 2.9M left And daily buybacks are creeping up to circa 150,000 a day lately = 150k a day at 100p support 1.5M in 10 days or 2.9M hit on day 19 from today. With the present China stance seemingly set to last for the foreseeable future when buybacks stop then the selling volumes could still be rising imo Which means can APF put another 5M of buyback cash in and will that level drop from say 100p to 80p as these buybacks have dropped from over 125p to 100p The market always wins | buywell3
17/10/2020 19:10 | A series of good posts from Cacher (LSE) below on the Incoa Calcium Carbonate royalty. That looks as if it'll be another income stream for APF in 2021. Incoa mine raw limestone in the Dominican Republic and ship it into Mobile, Alabama. It's then milled down into calcium carbonate powder - then sold to a variety of industiees, ranging from paints, plastics, food supplements, Pharmaceuticals etc etc.APF have a 1.23% gross revenue royalty on the life of the operation. At the moment that has a 30 year mine life, but there's the potential for an additional 100 years based on mine extensions.Immediate cash flow from the time APF contribute the $20m, and production is expected to ramp up quickly after. APF will get a quarterly GRR paymentA couple of months old, but the calcium carbonate operation seems to be getting good backing, and moving swiftly towards cashflow.https://www | the deacon
17/10/2020 08:02 | QuePassa is obviously still lurking, marking everything down. Surprised he's not keen on APF at this level. I know he's a bit of a uranium fan, and when the uranium bull market does get going then APF will benefit immensely. Those tolling fees will go through the roof, and the number of land package royalties they own around Arrow will look extremely attractive. Salamanca has been looking like a non-starter for years, but there's always a chance that might work out eventually too. | the deacon

15/10/2020 09:13 | Laptop15, yes Deacon confirmed this to me the other day when I posted something similar. As well as sentiment as rimau1 points out, demand/price should be impacted. Anyways, LIORC up 4% overnight and given how strong the iron ore price has been of late I would have thought there is a reasonable chance IOC will be paying a dividend in Q4. | sporazene2

15/10/2020 07:34 | Surely this is weighing on the share price? (Alliance News) - Miner BHP Group PLC has confirmed that Chinese customers have asked for deferrals of their coal orders amid reports Beijing had told state-owned steelmakers and power plants to stop importing Australian coal. Speaking after BHP's annual general meeting Wednesday evening, company chairman Ken MacKenzie said they had recently received deferment requests and were working with customers in China "to understand the situation more comprehensively." "We understand there may be some new developments relating to how China plans and moderates imports versus their own domestic coal production," MacKenzie told reporters, as cited by local media. Earlier in the week, the Australian government said it was seeking reassurance from Beijing after industry news services cited several unnamed sources claiming the state-owned mills were given verbal notice to stop importing Australian thermal and coking coal with "immediate effect". | rimau1
14/10/2020 22:22 | I've never seen a share buyback that did any favours for investors or the share price and I've been doing this for 35 years. Let's see what the next month brings. We'll see if I'm right or not. | lord gnome
14/10/2020 19:02 | Yes that's right of course its being manipulated. There's no other possible explanation for your investment going down. It's all a big conspiracy. | hedge fund harry
14/10/2020 18:23 | Seems that the share price being manipulated down to allow APF to buy their own shares on the cheap. No progress will be made until the buy back is completed, then we will have the good news and the share price will start to take off again. If anyone is thinking of buying, now is the time. I have one more purchase to make, probably next week and then I can sit back and watch. Would be nice to catch some at close to a quid. | lord gnome |
