06/12/2023 05:59 | I only hold the two bit broker that is Jarvis. I do though keep an eye on the sector as I believe sectors rise and fall together. The rise across the board at circa 2pm looks to me like a re rating...... or just a blip !. Time will tell all. Good luck. | ![]() tenapen
05/12/2023 20:31 | You don't think it might have more to do with results coming this week LB ?! | ![]() tudes100
05/12/2023 17:48 | Maybe !!! Brokers across the board have had a good day, their share prices going higher as sentiment improves. Long may it last. | ![]() tenapen

02/11/2023 12:14 | Hunting for bargain shares? They're right in front of you Markets are too short-term when marking down the likes of Hargreaves Lansdown and AJ Bell | ![]() zho
30/10/2023 16:10 | What IS going on? Seemingly good fundamentals, making money etc. yet the share price continues to fall??? | likeadabble
19/10/2023 17:26 | That's true - they might have to offload some bits. It might not be for a few years, but I think it will eventually happen. Their charging structures are relatively similar for their platform businesses (unlike ii for example) and AJB have the advantage of the growing service they offer to external advisors (which HL has never done and potentially missed out on). | ![]() ochs
19/10/2023 17:19 | Would the competition watchdog allow a merger between Hargreaves and AJ Bell? They would end up controlling a big chunk of the market if they did. | ![]() riverman77
19/10/2023 16:27 | Yes, market has taken the full year update pretty well - surprising as they've taken HL's Q1 update badly! I topped up AJB at 257p yesterday, got it as a longer term SIPP investment, so happy to add more if there are further falls. I think that ultimately HL and AJB will merge as its the only way to keep costs and prices competitive and compete with US brokers trying to invade their territory. Otherwise I can see HL going to private equity at some point. | ![]() ochs
19/10/2023 14:18 | AJ Bell plc issued a trading update for its FY ended 30th September this morning. The platform business continues to grow solidly, customer numbers increased by 50,880 to close at 476,532, up 12% in the year. Net inflows in the year were £4.2 billion taking assets under administration to a record £70.9 billion, up 11% in the year. AJ Bell Investments continues to power ahead, net inflows in the year were £1.65 billion, up 57% versus the prior year, with AUM of £4.7 billion, up 68% in the year. The business continues to grow solidly and is very profitable. Valuation remains something of a cloud with forward PE ratio at 15.5x in the bottom quartile for the IB & IS sector. The share price also remains in a correction and lacks positive momentum accordingly. Monitor for now... ...from WealthOracle | ![]() kalai1
29/9/2023 20:42 | Starting to look interesting again. I use AJB for my SSAS and investment accounts. And they’re brilliant. So I’d happily buy shares, but at what price? £2.50 looks like good value to me. Salty | ![]() saltaire111
30/8/2023 12:35 | Worth a buy if they drop back towards previous lows around 241p to 250p. Although yield is only 2.55% so only half what you get with HL. I think longer term HL and AJB might merge to create a UK investment powerhouse to compete with the US companies who will increasingly try and undercut and take market share over the next 10 years. | ![]() ochs

16/8/2023 18:33 | Correct, it's paid gross.Should you have another pension like my Mrs does , then when both combined, should the total be over annual personal allowance, then any tax due is taken from the other pension.stbc of course.DbD | ![]() death by donut
10/8/2023 17:20 | Well I bought 2 lots of 5000 just before the close | ![]() bc4
10/8/2023 16:42 | Absolutely no idea. But it is interesting. It is quite a significant drop too. | ![]() saltaire111
10/8/2023 15:16 | Why the drop? | ![]() bc4
13/7/2023 11:03 | Not sure I agree with that @LRJ - doesn't the state pension not get taxed for many pensioners already due to falling within their personal allowance? It would be better to target less well off pensioners with extra help rather than have a blanket no income tax policy - as there are plenty of very well off pensioners too. | ![]() ochs

08/6/2023 19:22 | HL were up 3% today (I'm not sure of reason), so AJB seem to have followed that - despite the XD effect at the start of trading. | ![]() ochs
08/6/2023 15:59 | XD Today and share price is up? Odd combination for AJB - let's hope this is start of the re-rating....someone knows something for sure. | ![]() wsm812
11/5/2023 11:11 | Buying volumes are very low, a great time to top up as this will get a re-rating at some point. | ![]() wsm812 |
