Since December the EPS Analyst Consensus, that can be found on the AJ Bell site, has increased from 14.02p (23) and 15.83p (24) to 15.05p (23) and 16.75p (24).

I think we are too cheap at these levels.

Can this really be the reason for the c5% drop today?

Today may well test the 350 level of resistance. A break above and hold will be very positive.

I am quite pleased by the resiliance shown by AJB over the past couple of days turmoil. A break above 350 now bodes very well for continuing new highs.

First post here for ages. Why the drop the past two days when the FTSE has risen sharply? Any ideas?

Share price still going nicely atm - it approached the next resistance level (which is around 358p) today, but then retreated. If it can close above there, then the next stop should be the old high from Nov 2021 at 429p.

Their website "youinvest" is down, can only invest by phone and obviously too many calls, hopeless, should be closed down by the regulator!

I was quite impressed with the trading update, and at the current share price the P/E is more reasonable than it was at over £4 a share. Well worth buying more on any further dips towards 240/250p.

AJ Bell today issued a trading update in respect of its financial year ended 30 September 2022. Customer numbers increased by 57,687 to close at 425,652, up 16% in the year, AUA closed the year down 2% at £64.1 billion, with strong net inflows in the year offset by adverse market movements of 11%. Gross inflows of £10.1 billion were 36% higher and net inflows of £5.8 billion were 18% higher than those achieved two years ago in FY20, although both were down a little on the strong prior year comparators. Performance is solid given the macro and market backdrop, financial performance should hold up accordingly. Valuation is still stretched with forward PE ratio over 23x and PS ratio over 8x, share price has only corrected around 35% so far which is a fair bit less than some of AJB’s competitors. This is partly a reflection of the Group’s position as a high growth, very solid and profitable financial name. But also means valuation is still a clear cloud to the investment case. Macro and market clouds are also obviously a near term concern. Monitor for now...

This explains today's big rises for AJB & HL, broker upgrades, although AJB already well above 250p, so the broker appear a bit behind the curve!

@pally12 do you know what date or are you guessing based on last year?

So the FCA say Andy Bell can't serve as a non-exec. I wonder if this is from their experience of Peter H serving as a non-exec at HL for a few years? He's no longer a non-exec but does have a representative on the board - like Andy Bell is now planning.

Question now is whether he is worth £150k a year for not less than 48 full days consultancy? I'm not sure they really need his input (espec at that price) going forward?

Indeed, pleased I at least bought at 248p, although I'm now wishing I'd bought a lot more... was bound to be a strong support as equalled the Covid low from March 2020 and the early May 2022 lows.

Brokers always seem to be wrong because if it goes down they will say we told but if it goes up nobody's gonna complain bit like the weatherman

I've bought some more at 248p which is near the long term support of 242p.

Seems like a big over reaction to a broker note.
