iWeb is the same - uses same feed, referred to as "our data provider" always useful to have a third party to blame.

Still down this morning.

Pretty hopeless, AJB's system has not been able to provide updated portfolio valuations all day.

Indeed, and I think the low interest rate environment hasn't helped either. However that could be about to change for the better as we move into 2022. I'd expect the BoE to raise rates a small amount again in Feb.

Profits have more than doubled at AJB over the last 4 years. But the shareprice has not grown in tandem. I think this has been because the stock was deemed expensive.

Due a bit of catch up this stock with its own growth.

Very interesting thoughts @Sphere25, and I agree with most of them. At the moment 'buying the dips' appears to be working yet again in the US!

No one is worried about the app. This stock is fizzing on results. And quite right too. They were good.

Thing is the app's not even been released yet, so calling it 'complete garbage' before seeing it is a bit harsh - but then he's a major competitor so he would say that. I do agree with his other points about the branding though!

Interesting erm... "views" from Adam Dodds, the founder of Freetrade on AJB move into commission free trading:

- "It is naive"
- "The branding is juvenile and treats young investors like they’re idiots"
- “It looks like some boomer trying to create a product for young people”
- And he then called the app "complete garbage"

I say...thoroughly nice chap!

(Not sure what has happened here, accidentally hit a key on the keyboard and managed to double post an unfinished write up ha Post the other one shortly)

The chart shows 361p as a support and it managed to get back up to that level at the close last night.

It seemed over-sold on those excellent results yesterday and the (surprise) special dividend actually makes the yield pretty good (about 3.24%).

I see Andy Bell bought some more yesterday (263,051) at 378.25p - although seems he should have waited until the afternoon to get a bargain!

It's been sticking to the 370p level like glue this morning. It will be interesting to see which way it goes when that mark gets decisively broken.

Good luck everyone, Sid.

I jumped in earlier at 364p (although didn't catch the bottom).

Seems to be a combination of things hitting this (and HL recently)

- low interest rates likely to go on for longer than expected a few months ago.
- peak dealing from Covid could be over - or perhaps it will come back?
- Risk of Dodl not catching on, not making money and upsetting existing customers.
- high P/E means growth expectations are already very high.

I guess, but it's only a guess that the price execution will be worse. The only way to fund commission free is through the spread.

Does seem strange that commission free app, there has got to be a catch

Wonder if it's the high P/E ratio which is 37 as opposed to the likes of HL which is 20 some

Still trading sideways, v good company but still very richly valued....from WealthOracle Q3...

AJ Bell Plc is a company that provides investment platforms AJ Bell Investcentre and AJ Bell Youinvest. It offers self-invested personal pension (SIPP), individual savings account (ISA) and general investment/dealing accounts. Current market cap is around £1.67b.

AJB today provided a trading update for the April-June 2021 quarter (Q3 of its FY). Total assets under administration ("AUA") increased to £70.4 billion, up 30% over the last year and 8% in the quarter. Of this increase, net new inflows through the quarter were £1.8b, another impressive increase in new business. Investment performance was also therefore pretty solid....

Update, I decided to buy a few for my SIPP at 389p, not quite the day's low, but not far off. Will buy more if it drops towards 361p. I'm expecting a further dividend increase in January.

Been slipping recently (along with HL). BlackRock appear to be reducing their position, now down to 5.76%.

If you're into charts then 389p is important as it's the 38% retracement of the March 2020 low (241p) to Jan 2021 high (481p).

Not sure whether to buy now or wait and see if it drops towards the 50% at 361p...
