Just come back from a uk holiday today and nice to see the stock is doing OK.

Trident not all divisions have been doing well, certain ones have not and need restructuring

Nice pop to 90p at the end; maybe market waking up to potential?

Markie7 is that the case? I thought I heard on the news that airlines would still operate routes to/from Spain for now.

This is obviously a bit grim but AIR should bounce / benefit from more flight cancellations following the UK Govt action re Spain. Lots of other destinations experiencing cancellations now as a result. Travel sector clearly going to be unreliable for a while.

Their 2020 AR said that they had furloughed 32% of staff (hard to reconcile with their increased activity) - does anyone know whether they are repaying the furlough given that Covid is providing them with exceptional profits?

G99 Perfectly apt but sadly now the principles seem rooted in reverse Darwinism

On that note, what is for lunch?

@bwm2,

Something like "educatio est clavis libertatus", perhaps?

Naah, that would stress them out, the "teachers", I mean.
Easier some learned tag from the "work" of Stormzy,
something inclusively inane.

Anyway, back to trying to make an honest bob!

G99 - agreed. But for most people it's about getting through the daily grind and workshops where young, very bouncy HR execs exort passion, deep care and extraordinariness inevitably lead to glassy stares as attendees ponder what they'll have for lunch.
I didn't think much of the Remuneration answers in the same report.

Same nonsense that schools dream up and put on their web sites that no one remembers or cares about. Better the old way, a punchy motto in Latin methinks

trident5, that's all the social conscience tripe that all companies seem to feel obliged to regurgitate mindlessly these days........ because, well, just because! Rather pathetic, really, but not specific to AIR. I doubt anyone really takes any of this very seriously, tbh. All part of today's inane societal "caring" virtue-signalling, a kind of David Brent language not really meant to mean anything very much.

An investing newsletter I subscribe to was running month after month a message "Thank you to all NHS staff" on its front page. Honestly, why? On a tip sheet? You're not being old-fashioned at all. In respect of "live your passion", what exactly does it mean? "Being passionate to do a good job", that I can go along with but "live your passion"? Beats me as well.

"We have five core values, namely ‘Care deeply’, ‘Take responsibility’;, ‘Live your passion’, ‘Work as one’ and ‘Be extraordinary’."

Do shareholders also have to be extraordinary?

I might be old fashioned but I don't think living your passion is something that you should take to work.

FYI: Answers to questions from shareholders have been posted to the website:

I will read this now - can anyone see something of importance?

The average EPS over the last four years is about 7.6p. So, had nothing very much changed in AIR's business, at the present SP, that would give a PER barely into double figures. By itself, one could perhaps feel comfortable with that as an investment. Indeed, for most of that four-year period, the share price was substantially higher than it is today. Even coming into 2020, the share price was still nudging 100p, about 10%-15% higher than today's share price

Now consider the business and profits AIR is earning from responding to the opportunities arising from the spread of and failure to control the Chinese virus, the commercial effects of which are (imo) likely to go on for much longer than many or most people are assuming. Consider the contributions still to accrue fully from the new offices opened in the last couple of years. Consider the contribution to accrue from Redline, which is looking to be an excellend addition to AIR's business portfolio. Consider the contributions still to fully accrue from other businesses added in that time. Next to nothing of that existed only a few months ago.

Then consider as well this is a company now with about 25% of its MC in cash.

On the other hand, there is, let me think, oh yes, "the vaccine", oh, "the vaccine", the magic dust to sprinkle over the world that will put everything right and take us back to "pre-covid" time and everyone will start jumping on planes without a care in the world, world trade will resume just as before, "happy days are here again"! Yeah, right!

Tough one.............

£52m market cap, £16m net cash less £3m RCF drawn, so c.£40m EV, with £10m made in first 5 months.

Should if profitable from here in H2, continue to throw off cash to help add to that.....why should say £13-15m not be a decent full year number of PBT?

They talk of £10m for 5 months being "at least".....leaves wriggle room on upside.

Divi talk is useful, but why spend placing money on dividend so quickly? Maybe point to 2021 instead?

Maybe the share price has fallen back to pre-covid levels as the exceptional earnings have seemingly ceased. And the post tax profits of those earnings will be a wash with the placing proceeds.
Pricing seems about rational.

AIR are generally very cautious in their public statements. One can see this in the monthly updates that Mark Briffa has been issuing recently, where he always stresses the "lack of visibity" beyond a month or so ahead. This AGM statement is similarly cautious. This is understandable in a business where orders always come in at short notice, by the nature of the beast. However, this time the market seems to have taken them a bit too literally, aided perhaps by a number of stops being tripped early on, evidenced by many of the sells being "A" (automatic) trades. Investors perhaps need to take a view on their own since AIR obviously can't go wild in their public statements. For me, when I see the virus pandemic still growing in places like the US,when I see Texas, Florida, California in deep trouble, when I see that Qantas has cancelled all international flights (excepting to NZ) until April, 2021 (or even July, 2021 - see link), when I see the readiness of governments to reimpose lockdowns instantly, well the seeming market assumption that the party's over and that AIR will go back to pre-virus days seems to be nonsense. I picked up a few more this morning at 85p (shown as a "sell").

and you never know when you might need their help

Look at the share price!!

NTV - I don't expect a company to start talking about paying dividends just 4 weeks after taking money from its shareholders.
It should have just reduced the placing proceeds and withheld a dividend - saving its owners tax.

If they have got the margins and pricing right with these Redline contracts then we will see more growth in profits in 21 with a bit of luck as these contracts ramp up A 5% will suit me in these difficult times

Classic bump on the head at the £1 resistance. I find that mostly that when shares break through that threshold they move quite quickly into the teens.

Shame, but it will be back.
